Ephraim M Mobley/Edward Mobley Will

I am looking for any information on an Ephraim M Mobley who is referred to in the will of Edward Mobley of Chester District, SC. I have a copy of 2 wills and the estate papers. The above-referenced will is dated 1 Jan 1839. It states that "the above legacies is in Lieu of all right title and interest to the estate of 'Ephrain(sic) M Mobley' deceased....). Ephraim is not named in the earlier will dated 19 Apr 1838, so I assume his date of death was some time after that date. I am trying to determine Ephraim's relationship to Edward Mobley, Ephraim's date of death, and I'm especially interested in finding a copy of Ephraim's will and estate papers. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nancy Moberly

I am the GGGG Grandson of John M. Talbott (b. 1808 in Westmoreland Co., PA) and Nancy (Moberly) Talbott. She was b. abt. 1814 in KY; her parents (first names unknown) both were born in SC (per info in the 1880 Indiana Census). While still unmarried, John Talbott moved to Indiana in about 1838, where he met Nancy.

John and Nancy were married on 19 Aug 1841 in Lawrence Co., IN. I have a copy of their marriage license (which spells her name "Moberley"). There is no family information contained on the marriage certificate.

One of her granddaughters, Susan Talbott, was given her middle name--spelled "Moberly."

I believe Nancy's middle name began with an "E," as her death notice identifies her as Nancy E. Talbott. She died in Orange Co., IN on 28 Mar 1886 in Orange Co., IN and is buried in the Green Hill Cemetery there.

John Talbott was a Methodist preacher. Nancy's name was spelled "Moberly" in the obituary of John Talbott, who died in 1893.

If anyone has any information on this elusive Moberly relative, please let me know. Thank you.

Rev. William and Beulah Mobley

Looking for the death dates/locations for Rev. William Mobley and his wife, Beulah (or Bulah) Joiner Mobley. They were last noted on the 1900 United States Federal Census in Menard County, Texas. According to that census, William was born June 1864 in Mississippi, and Bulah on Dec 1863 in Mississippi. Also listed with them are two children, John E. and Stella. I know that they had a third child, Blanche, born in 1902. The three children were raised by Beulah's sister, and appear in her household in the 1910 census. I therefore conclude that both William and Beulah probably died between 1902-1910. ANY leads would be helpful!

Hello,

I'd like to compare notes with any descendants of John Mobley. According to Huxford's Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Vol. 2, he was born in Duplin Co., NC circa 1755 and died circa 1832. Huxford believed John's father was William Mobley.

The family moved to St. George's Parish, GA (later known as Burke Co., GA) John Mobley also lived in Screven County, Montgomery County, and possibly Tattnall County, GA.

John's children were:
1. Lucy-born 1782-married James Grace
2. Mary Ann-b. 1784
3. Lucretia-b.1786-mar. Martin Harden 6/1/1806-died 1831
4. Ludd-b. 1789-mar. Nancy Pridgen 12-22-1812
5. William-b. 1790-mar.Susannah Edwards-10-21-1810
6. Sarah Ann-b. 1791-mar.Jesse Byrd-8-26-1810
7.John-b. 1793-mar. Penelope Cooper 4-21-1836
8. Solomon-b.1794-mar. Elizabeth Byrd, 1811
9. Byrd-b. 1799-mar. Nancy Burroughs-9-5-1822
10.Cynthia-b. 1802-mar. David Edenfield, Jr.-8-14-1823

Is there any documentation (deeds, wills, etc) as to the family background of John's father, William Mobley? Hoping someone can help.

Sincerely,
Shelby
SHEL2378@aol.com

Joab Mobley - Greene County Alabama - 1830's

I am researching Joab Mobley who lived in Greene County AL
in the early 1830's. He was born in 1789 ( North Carolina/
South Carolina?). His daughter was Pinkie (also spelled
Pinkey) born in 1821. Pinkie Mobley married Henry Baines
in 1840 in Greene County AL. Henry Baines was my gggrandfather. Supposedly, Joab Mobley is buried in Greene
County AL.

Mobley History

I am interested in Mobley History, I do not
know where to start. I have done well on other lines. However, I am stumped with this
one. Peter Mobley of Richmond, Missouri would
have been my daughter's GrandFather. Pete died before I married into the Mobley family.
He was a minister for the Salvation Army.
Any suggestions on tracing the Mobely line
would be appreciated.

I have been unsuccessful thus far in finding the parents of Amanda Mobley born around 1902 who married William Fraley. They lived with William’s brother Cecil in Pleasant Valley, Carter, Kentucky in 1920 where they had a daughter Wilma Fraley, (My grandmother). Sometime around 1925 Amanda and William Divorced and William moved to Van Buren, Putnam, Ohio with his new wife Lou (Lucille) & had two daughters. I have been told that it is possible Amanda married a man named Adams, (possibly John). I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.

I find them in Pumpkinvine District, Paulding CO., Ga in the 1870 census and in Fannin CO., TX in the 1880 census. I have no information on her previous to that time. I would like to know who her parents and any siblings were. If anyone has any information I would appreciate any assistance.

Thomas Mabrey Mobley

I am still searching for Thomas Mabrey Mobley and his connection to
all of the Mobleys. He was born in 1820. He married Martha Rebecca Crawford.

Their children were:

Louisa b1846
Mary Ann b1848 never married
Thomas Jr b1850 married Nancy Caroline Hill
Samuel b1854
Ina b1857

According to his Confederate papers he was born in Putnam County, Ga but
there are no Mobleys in Putnam County in 1820. The family history center
has him born in Elberton, Ga. It also states that he and Martha married in Elberton. I cannot
find anything to support this. Can anyone help me? I have worked on this since 1983 and can't
connect him with anyone. The Thomas Mobley that married the Mabrey seemed a
possibility at one time, but didn't pan out. I am open to ANY suggestions.
