marriage of Bird Mobley to Mrs Judy McCook

This is not my family. I have no further info.
From New York Times, dated 19 Feb 1884:
"How a Widow Was Captured
"Pearson, Ga., Feb. 18.- For some months past a rivalry has existed between Dud Mobley and Bird Mobley, brothers, for the affections of Mrs. Judy McCook, a sprightly widow. To each she pledged her troth, the arrangement in each case being that the nuptuals should be quietly celebrated, so as to be a surprise to the community when it happened. In this manner each imagined himself to be the sole possessor of the widow's heart. It was arranged with Bird Mobley that Widow McCook should meet him at a certain point on Ocmulgee River. On the night in question Dud Mobley learned of the intended move and went to the widow's house, and besought her to come out and marry him. This she refused to do, and locked the front door. The disappointed lover sat on the door-step, and resolved to hold the fort until she should appear. When daylight came he gained admittance, but found that the lady was missing. She had escaped through the back window and, seeking the place appointed with Bird Mobley, the two were married, and returning home later in the day received the blessing of the Watcher ono the door-step."

Mobley, Ludd Mobley, John Mobley, Bird Mobley and Cynthia Mobley."

This was from "Montgomery County Georgia A Source Book of Genealogy and History," by James Dorsey and John Derden.

Brenda

I lost track of her around 1972. She lived on University ave in La mesa the last time I saw her. She was a dear friend and I have tried for years to find her. She wrote me she had remarried and had a son by her new husband and was living on a farm in Macon, ga and was happy for the first time in years. She is the best friend I ever had and would like to see her once more. My last name was Droze but I ended up marrying Leo Scheurenbrand in 1973. If you are one of her kids or someone who knows her PLEASE CONTACT ME. Thanks.

I think something is wrong with Carl's answer. If Sarah died in 1826, then why is her Will being probated in 1848?

It the data I have been given there are a father and son named JEREMIAH and both men married a SARAH. I believe that this Will might belong to the son's wife and NOT the father's wife. Can anyone prove or disprove this?

Molly Moberly photo album

I am looking for the person who posted the photo album that was purchased at a yard sale south of Danville, Ky. I believe that I have a picture of one of the ladies ***Photo #11 - lady (W. H. Downing, Photographer, East Main St. Hillsboro, Ohio).

I have a photo (Topeka, Kansas) of a lady who looks alot like the lady in photo #11. This picture is in my grandfather's photo album. His name was Robert Siegle Hill, the son of A. J. Hill and Susannah Swartz. His first name was changed. I believe his birth name was Rezin. He was born in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas, on 9/2/1862. Susannah was a daughter of Rezin Swartz and Delilah Caplinger of Brush Creek, Ohio. His parents were Sebasitan Swartz and Elizabeth (Molly) Moberly of Anne Arundel, Maryland. Elizabeth's parents were Rezin Moberly and Eleanor Fenner of Maryland.

There is one picture a boy, Edwin Smith, with his name. After A. J. Hill died, Susannah married Charles E. Smith. So I am thinking Edwin is from that line.

There are many other photos in the album that I have with no names. These pictures were taken in Topeka, Kansas, Iowa City, Iowa, Denver, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, Logan, Utah, Park City, Utah.

I would appreciate any help.

Many descendants of this line of the family reside in Coffee and Pike counties in Alabama.

I have a record of Rachel Mobley marrying John O. Peters. According to the records I have found the 1880 census places her birthdate at 1844. At the time of the census they were living in Cabell Co. WV. I'm just trying to connect the dots here. Do you have any other records regarding Rachel Mobley that might make that connection?

Ref Oxford Family Butchers (Mobley) There is a small village outside Oxford called Elsfield where a Samuel Mobley and his wife Cathy ???? raised a family of at least 6 named John 1785 Frances 1787 Catherine 1788 Samuel 1791 George 1792 Elizabeth 1794 and Richard 1798. They were a family of butchers and worked from a farm called Sescut Farm which is on the Oxford side of the village. George and Richard left Oxfordshire in the early 1800's and settled in The Dunstable area of Bedfordshire, but I know John continued the trade as I found him on one of the early census's. My mother was a direct line to George 1792

Re: Looking For Mobley Family Of Belmont Ohio And Monroe Ohio

I have a family connection in Belmont County, as my grandmother was Ruth Ann Mobley. The line is Thomas Jefferson Mobley, Levi Mobley. Thomas Jefferson was married in 1830 in Belmont County, Ohio. Is this of value?
