There's much we've learned and more yet to know, of this man and his life Much family lore and some documentation. We know that his son & namesake, Louis, fled St Domingo; and in KY, married Aramathea Young, which is well documented. His youngest sister, Louise, for brevity, married a Pierre Antoine Fontaine dela Chausenel, who St Domingo and had a child, Julia, in Cuba. Some exiles remained in Cuba for apx 6 yrs until the Spanish/French battles caused them to flee, once more...this time to the port of New Orleans. Therese's mother who'd remarried, being widowed, when her husband and father in law lost their lives in France. She'd married Phillipe Ridore or Riodoro/e' (Cuban spellings) and they'd had a God-child Charles, surname unknown, together. Charles at age 20 when his God-parents wed. There's much more to this story, but, some will want to add to this, also, what they know or have had told to them, passed down thru the family. Lots of mystery here! ;) My own connection to this, is Joseph Gardner who married Louis's older sister, Marie Therese Clotilde Raison de la Geneste. Preferring to be simply, Mary Gardner, her full name's (using initials) is nevertheless on her stone in Barboursville, Cabell, WVa, next to her husband, Joseph Gardner, b: 3-17-1774 MA. The Modeste descendants are known as Gardners, Millers, Raison, Clendenin, Young, Fontain(e/o) more.
