Greetings,

Lucy Moffatt's sister, Ann, married George Thomas and they immigrated to the USA. George was a mine captain in the 1860s at the Cliff mine in the upper peninsula of Michigan and they later farmed in Indiana. She seems to have died 3 Nov 1915 in Barton, Missouri. There seems to have had been a number of grandchildren so likely there are descendents today from her line.

My Moffatts (Moffetts)according to my mother came from Derry Down.I have wondered if they came from Saintville as their son Thomas Moffatt, settled in Saintville Ont Canada, he married Rebecca Ireland. Thomas B 1833 Liverpool came to Toronto Canada abt 1838/38 with his parents both born Ireland Bristow Moffatt(shoemaker)& Mary Ann Young (Yonge).Their son Richard Ketcheson Moffett was a soldier in the Spanish American War and settled in Rochester N.Y. His grandson Richard Moffett did a DNA with only a Match to the Barnum Family. Have you tried this Route?

Hi Kathy
The Burnham Moffatt Genealogy is of interest as my Richard Moffett cousin's DNA relates so far only to a Burnham Family, his GGGrandfather born 1809 Ireland was Bristow Moffatt and came to Canada 1838/39,all our family of 6 children have been named after relatives except we were never able to find out who our oldest sister Barbara was named after.
Maybe you can help tell if there is any connection shown in your flimsy's

Sincerely Van Goodrich
Am searching for my Grandfather's family. Charles was born in Bear River, Nova Scotia 8-3-1870. His Parents were Wallace Moffatt and Mary McCauley,or McCulley. I have found this family in the 1871,81 census. I have not been able to find any info on Wallace or Mary's families ie: parents brothers, sisters etc. Also no info on where these 2 come from before they show up in Digby, Nova Scotia. Charles had several brothers and sisters Irene, James, George, Alfred, Emma, Sarah, and Aurthur. Any information, ideas, or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for your help.

Hi.. I dont know if you are still active on here or not as I see the posts were made quite some time ago but I am interested in knowing more about your George Moffatt. My great grandfather's name was George Moffatt and he was married to Bridget O'Connor. They were supposedly married on a boat coming to America. An 1880 Colorado census shows a George (36)and Bridget(35) Moffat in Denver with 2 children who were born In Iowa. Mary who is 3 and Kate who is 2.
My grandfather Junius Flagg Moffatt was born in 1885 in Denver. In later years when his daughter (Evelyn Marguerite) was born in Craig Colorado they mention him as a cousin to Patrick Moffatt who was a well known rancher in the Colorado area.
I am very interested in knowing if there is some connection with the Iowa Moffatts?
Please let me know windyviewlady@hotmail.com

Greetings,

My gg-grandfather was Lucy's brother, Thomas Henry Moffatt. Great to hear from you. Thomas Henry I suspect died of TB in Redruth in 1873. Only two of his children lived to be adults. His son, John, seems to have stayed in Cornwall and had one daughter. I'm descended from his Thomas Henry's son, also named Thomas Henry, who immigrated to Negaunee, Michigan.

Hello,

This is a long shot I know, but does anyone recognise a Mary Moffatt who had a connection to the Griffiths or Allmark families in Milton Street, Chester. Especially Robert Griffiths and his daughter Annie Griffiths(my grandmother). My grandmother always used to refer to her as Auntie Mary Moffatt in Scotland. We believe she had two daughters - one of whom came to live in Gresford near Wrexham N.Wales and could possibly have married a Price and lived in Pykie Hall near the Flash in Gresford.

I'm sorry to be so vague but I really don't have any leads on this so any help would be very welcome.

Jan

Green page 180 Bk. M page 541.

I don't have any more info on this case. This is the first time I have seen the middle initial B. Also, the name Moffatt has been spelled many different ways. I'd be glad to correspond with anyone on this family.

Robert Schneider

Robert, are you sure about the county? I have a Robert Moffat who was married to Mary (last name unknown), who had a daughter Elizabeth (Bessie) Moffat, baptized 11 Feb 1814 in Parish of Donaghenry, and a son William Moffat. There were other children, but I don't have their names -- one might have been George. Don't have any information on William, but do have a lot on Elizabeth. BUT, they were born in County Tyrone. It is believed, but I have no proof, that George emigrated to Canada and became an official in the Canadian government.

Hi Robert!

What a wonderful surprise to hear from you! I just called my grandmother to tell her we finally found our Moffatt relatives (or you found us really). She was really excited to hear that you are the great-grandson of her grandmother's brother Alexander. Please drop me a line at russdlentz@aol.com.
Take care,
Russ Lentz
Tallahassee, Florida

Hi,

We are Moffatt descendants living in Australia - Lucy Moffatt born 1823 in Breage Cornwall and her husband Stephen Bodinnar migrated here in the 1850's. Lucy is a daughter of John Moffatt (b 1786 Breage) and Jane nee Strike, John a son of William Moffatt (b 1751) and Mary nee Rowe, William a son of John and Anne. I think this line goes back to Adam Moffatt.

I'm happy to make contact with anyone interested.

I am wondering if anyone has come across any information on a Lillie, Lily or Lillian Moffatt b. 1854 possibly in Michigan. She married in the early 1870's and one of her sons was married in Ontario, Canada, his marriage record is how I came up with her last name. She would be my 3rd great grandmother and I have not been able to find any other information on her. There are no other sources that I have found so far for her maiden name and I am just trying to confirm if this is her maiden name. Thanks for your help.
