HUBBARD – Nicholas George Moga, 88, passed away on Oct. 22, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Health Center surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born May 6, 1921, the son of Nicolae and Maria Beu Moga in Hubbard, OHIO.
He was married to the former Helen A. Baciu of Warren, Ohio for 60 years.
He went to the Hubbard School System and graduated in 1939 with a perfect attendance record. He attended Youngstown College in Engineering before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served until 1946 when he was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He worked at Powell Pressed Steel in Hubbard for 42 years, holding many positions there completing his work as a tool room supervisor. Nick was also a local home builder and manufacturer of outdoor cooking equipment. Nick was a member of the Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church in Hermitage, Pa. He served Holy Cross as council president, council member and was instrumental in the design and building of the current Parish House. He served on the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate Council of Jackson, Mich. as Financial Secretary and Treasurer.
He leaves his wife and two sons, Myron of Hubbard, Ohio and Nicholas and his wife, Nancy of Covington, Va. He is survived by a sister, Nora and brother, Eli, both of Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary and Elena.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and also on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church from 9 to 10 a.m.
