In Ecuador South America, this name exists in Esmeraldas (a port city) where my mother is from. Mom was born in a small village half way towards the Colombian border. The village name is Rio Verde (adjacent to a river by the same name). Up the river there are small communities. The further up one goes, the more prevalent the name is known, and with much respect.
