Mi abuelo Juan Esteban Molina

I am a descendant of my abuelo Esteban Molina. He was the youngest son of Antonia and Francisco Molina. My grandfather married Rosa Maria Gonzalez and had five children with her. Two girls and three boys. The mainly resided in southern california. My grandfather passed away of cancer in Yuma, Arizona. I believe he had a sister whos name is or was Francisca or "Kika"and she resides in southern california, the last I heard. He had a lot more relatives however I didn't really grow up with them which is a shame. Some other names I remember are Teclo Molina, "Chon",Sara Molina, Pancho...Some other last names linked to Molina are Rodriguez, Martinez, and Garcia.

LOOKING FOR CONNECTIONS TO JESUS MOLINA OF SINALOA, MEXICO

All I know of Jesus Molina from Sinaloa, Nayarit, is that he married Elisa Flores and they had 4 kids (I'm the youngest). They divorced in 1972/73 maybe in Tijuana, Baja California? I'm told that at some point he travelled to Los Angeles looking for work but was unsuccessful and returned to Nayarit. Would love to hear from anyone who knows of similar story. Thank you.

Obituary: Clara Reyes Molina

Clara Reyes Molina, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2009. Clara was born on May 14, 1914, in Clifton, Arizona, and was a resident of Oxnard for over 85 years.

She was the second to the last child of thirteen children born to Bonifacio Reyes and Clara Aragon Reyes. Her fathre, Bonifacio Reyes was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1869. He migrated to Clifton, Arizona in the late 1800's to work at the Morenci Copper Mine. Her mother, Clara Aragon Reyes, was born in La Mesia, New Mexico, in 1875. Women of her time/era and location of birth were called "Manita".

In the mid 1920's, Clara's oldest brother, Inez "Joe" Reyes, brought his parents and younger siblings to live in the Los Angles area of "Euclid". When Clara was an adolescent, they relocated to Oxnard, where most of them remained for the rest of their lives.

Her brother, Joe, a pharmacist and drug store owner, is well-remembered by long-time Oxnard residents. For many years, he helped families in the Oxnard and Colonia areas with his advice and home remedies. Another brother, Barney Reyes, was also in business here in Oxnard and Ventura. For many years he owned the Top Hat Bar, Old Mexico Restaurant, and Mr. B's.

Albert, Clara's late husband of 57 years, was a third generation born in Tcson, Arizona i n 1908. He passed away in 1990. At the age of five or six his family moved to the area of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles. In the early 1920's, his family moved to Oxnard so that his father could gain employment at the Oxnard Sugar Beet Factory. Albert also worked at the Sugar Beet Factory and in his later years he worked and retired from the City of Oxnard.

It was destiny for Albert and Clara to meet. Both had moved from Arizona to Los Angeles and then finally settling in Oxnard. It was here that they met, fell in love, and married. They were married in the early 1930's at the original Guadalupe Church, which was on 7th and Meta Streets. Together they had five daughters, all of whom attended and graduated from local Oxnard schools.

Clara loved the company of family and friends. In her younger years she was active in the PTA, and she and Albert faithfully attended Santa Clara Church. In her later years, attending Sunday mass continued to be a priority. She enjoyed being a member of the Tri-Counties Retirees club. She and Albert loved going on the field trips that they offered. Until his death they were an inseparable pair.

Until the time to be with the Lord, Clara always enjoyed having visits and phone calls from family and friends. She always liked to reminisce about her childhood years in Clifton. She talked about how kind, loving and how much help that her older sisters, Juanita Scott, Anita Maese, and Maria Morales, gave to her parents and siblings. Most recently preceded in death were her husband, Albert; son-in-law, Peter Espinosa; sister and brother-in-law, Hortencia "Tencha" and Raymond LeDesma; and nephews, Richard "Dickey" Reyes, and Al Morales. Although part of the famiy name, "Molina", will not continue as a surname, it will continue to live and be remembered by all of her family. They will remain to carry on and remember her great recipes, customs, family history, stories and most important, the memories of the loving family gatherings and times spent togethre.

Left to follow in the shadow of those special memories and love are her five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Joe Duenas of Bellflower, Calif., Corrine and Tony Duenas of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Elizabeth "Betty" Espinosa (husband Pete, deceased) of Newbury Park, Calif.., Dolores "Dukie" and Carl Bailey of Oxnard, Calif., and Alberta Molina-Hedstrom and George Hedstrom of Oxarnd, Calif. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren. Brothr in-law and sister-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Ruth Molina of Ventura, Calif., and sister-in-law, Margarita Reyes of Oxnard, Calif. Numerous nephews, nieces and God-children.

The family wishes to thank Edna and her staff of Edna's Residential Care Facility in Camarillo, Calif., for all the care and love that they gave to our mom. They also wish to thank mom's caseworker Judy and the other staff of Tender Loving Care Home Hospice for all of their care and assistance.

Memorial gifts may be made to Loving Heart Hospice Foundation, 5400 Atlantis Couirt, Moorpark, CA 93021.

Earthbound Angels
Our mothers are earthbound angels
Sent by God above
To give our lives direction
And fill our hearts wih love.
They have no wings or halos
And yet they are divine,
For years of toil and sacrifice
Have rendered them sublime.
So, mothers, may God bless you
Wherever you may be.
For the gift of love you gave us
Lives on eternally.

Clay Harrison Visitation will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009 from12 to 8 p.m. at James A. Reardon-Payton Mortuary Chapel, 511 North A Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Santa Clara Church, 323 Soiuth E Street, Oxnard, Calif. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of James A. Reardon-Payton Mortuary, 511 North A Street, Oxnard, Calif.; (805) 483-2233.

Published in the Ventura County Star from 3/14/2009 - 3/17/2009

Origins Of the Molina name

Hi! I am so just starting the ancestry/genealogy thing and am very scattered in my research. I thought I read somewhere that the Molina name didn't appear in Mexico until after the Spanish explorers arrived. Does anyone have any information regarding the origins of the name? Just wondering if it could be traced back to Spanish roots, many people thought my grandfather and his mother were Spanish descendents as opposed to Mexican. Apparently his mother had blue eyes.
Thanks!

I was going over some old messages and came across yours. Some of the names match my family tree. My gr-gr-grandfather, Julian Robles, had sons names Refugio and Jose Robles. They were from Ures, Mexico. Refugio Robles was my gr-grandfather and he was married to Maria Santos Robles. His brother Jose Adolfo was baptised in 1842 and his other brother Jose Eugenio was baptised in 1847. Hopefully this may shed some light on your search.

I am looking for information on any Molina and allied families residing in Savannah, Georgia in the mid 19th century. Specifically Raymon (Raymond) Molina, Manuel Molina, Mary Molina, Frank (Francis) Molina. Also any information about 233 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Ga , built by Raymond Molina in 1869-1870, would be helpful.
Molinas in Hidalgo, Texas

I was in Hidalgo, Texas in November and was told that there is a very large family of Molinas there and that I look very much like them. I have been looking for information about my great grandfather Bernardo Molina. I don't know anything about him other than he was married to Merced Hernandez in 1867 in Burgos and most if not all their children were baptized in Reynosa or Matamoros. Would like to hear from some of those Molinas in the Hidalgo area.

Searching for information about Jose Salvador Molina and descendants from Agualeguas. My great grandfather was Bernardo Molina and 1836 records indicate his parents were Jose Salvador Molina and Maria Antonia de la Garza. There is also a Fernando listed as their child in 1837. Then there is another child listed for Jose Salvador in 1837 but with the mother's name Maria Juliana de la Garza. Salvador and Juliana had seven children, most died young. I don't know for certain that this Bernardo is the one I am looking for. I do know that my great grandfather was Bernardo Molina and he married Merced Hernandez in Burgos in 1867. There are no records in Burgos prior to 1867 of Bernardo Molina. I really could use some help with this.

Thank you for replying. I don't know if there is a tie. Since I posted I found that Bernardo Molina was the son of Domingo Molina and Gertrudis Barrera (or Herrera in some records). They were possibly from Mier. Bernardo and his wife Merced settled in the Matamoros area and the majority of their children were baptized at the cathedral there. I don't know if Domingo or Bernardo had any brothers/sisters. I would certainly like to know.

Searching for family info: Cuba/US Jorge Molina Acosta/Rogelio Molina Valero Camaguey, Cuba

Hi,

I am the granddaughter of Jorge Molina Acosta, born 1904 either in Cuba or Spain. His father, Francisco Molina (I think that's his name) was from the province of Galecia in Spain as far as I've been told. My grandfather lived in the US, but went back to live in Cuba for sometime. He was a merchant marine. He had two uncles who lived in Cuba named, Tera and Victoriano who lived in a different territory in Spain. He had a brother named, Rogelio Molina Valero who resided at Calle E. No 35 Case del A. Puertolas, Santa Cruz del Sur Camaguey, Cuba according to a letter written in 1984. His other brother's names were Carlitos Molina, and Angel Molina. Rogelio had several children: Silvia a profesora de Fisica. Tamana, profesora de biologia. Yolanda, es profesor de psicologia Delia, (not sure) Dolores, (Lolita) maestra prmaria. Gladhis, director de un escuela primaira who had a daughter, Yanelis Yanelis was very sick. Had something wrong with her eyes. I think lost both of them as a child. There is a son, named Rogelito and another named Angelito. This is as much as I know any information would be great. Thaks.
