My great grandfather, August "Gust" Moline (03 Oct 1838-10 Sep 1910), immigrated from Sweden in 1868 to Lee County, Iowa. He had nine children, including three sons, Harvey, Perry, and Harold. It is my understanding that Perry and Harold did not have any sons to carry on the Moline surname. My grandfather, Harvey, had two sons, Francis and Donald. It is therefore unlikely that your husband's great grandfather is the same August Moline as mine. I have seen other Moline families on the Internet that also had an August Moline that came from Sweden. It is possible that they are related to your husband's family. Good luck.

The obituary notice for my Great-Grandfather, Nels Severson, listed a Sister of Nels', Mrs. John Moline. One of Nels' Sons, Peter Owen Severson, married Margaret Piper. Some time after Peter & Margaret had 5 children, Margaret then divorced Peter & married one of his 1st Cousins, Albert Moline. One of Peter Severson's Granddaughters recently sent me the following info from a copy of Albert Moline's Birth Certificate: Albert Moline b. 4/20/1896 in Ecklund Township, Burleigh County, ND; Father - John Moline (from Sweden, occupation - farmer); Mother's maiden name - Anna Severson (Sister of Nels Severson). Albert was the 3rd child born to John & Anna Moline. One of Peter Severson's Sons, Bob, told me he remembers Florence, Oscar, & Albert Moline. Florence & Oscar may have been Albert's 2 older siblings. I am looking for any info of when & where John Moline was born, when he migrated from Sweden to the USA, & the date of his marriage to Anna Severson plus the info of when & where Anna was born & when she migrated from Norway to the USA. Her Brother, Nels Severson married Anna Margret Pederson (d/o Peder Sjursen) & then Nels & his wife, Anna, migrated from Norway to the USA in 1880 or 1881 as a wedding journey.

Paul Siegler - I believe that we are related. My grandfather, John Louis Moline was born in Fowler, Indiana on May 28, 1880. We have relatives named Tatroe. My grandfather John L. had a sister named Ruth, and a brother Wallace. My grandfather married Flora M. Paine Moline and they lived in Chicago, Ill. There were two children from this marriage, Wallace G. and Carl Louis Moline (my father). My father and mother had 5 children, Leonore (me) Carolyn & Carl, Jr. (twins), Beverly DAndrea (who has already posted messages in 2000). and John (Johnny) who was adopted. We haven't found Johnny yet. We were all separated in 1945 when our father died in Chicago. Beverly, Carolyn and I have been reunited by phone and mail since last year, after 57 years. Thank God for the internet - now we have learned today that our brother Carl, Jr. died in 1997. Please contact me. My email address is: mljausam@hmtel.com. Thank You.

John L. Moline (1846-1921)

John L. Moline, one of the best known pioneer farmers of this community was found dead by members of his family Thursday afternoon about 3 o'clock, lying near the granary on his farm southeast of Wilton. Mr. Moline had not been feeling well for several days, but could not be persuaded to remain indoors. He was missed for some time by the family and on investigation was discovered as related above.
A physician was called at once, who on arrival found it would be necessary to notify the coroner of Burleigh county. The result of the inquest was that he died from heart failure.
The funeral services were held Sunday from the Swedish Lutheran church, Rev. G. E. Englund, of Underwood, officiating. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
John Larson Moline was born at Holand, Sweden, April 14, 1846, living there until 1887, when he came to America, locating at Hudson, Wisconsin. In April, 1891, he married Anna Severson, and a year later the two came to North Dakota, settling on a homestead in Burleigh county, where he has since resided.
Beside his widow he leaves six children to mourn his loss: Hans, Albert, Oscar and Mrs. Clara Peterson, who are all at home, and Guarda and Mrs. Edwin Peterson of Wilton. The sorrowing family has the sympathy of the entire community.

Source: Wilton (ND) News
May 13, 1921
(This is not my family, posted for the interest of others.)

Henry,

I do not know anything about Carl Raymond Moline; however, there were apparently two different families named Moline that settled in Lee County in the late 1800s. I am descended from August Moline who came from Sweden in 1868 and settled in southwest Lee County around Croton. There is no Carl Raymond Moline anywhere in this family.

Another family of Molines settled in the Fort Madison, Iowa area which is located in the northeastern part of the county. According to the phone book, there are still Molines living in Ft. Madison. You might try contacting them to see if they know anything about Carl Moline.

I do not know if these two families are related or not. If they are related, it was back in Sweden and I have not been able to find anything about any them in Sweden.

Good luck,

Larry Moline
Ft.
Moline Family Rockford Illinois

Am researching the Moline (Molin) family which appears to have immigrated from Sweden in the 1880s and 1890s to the Rockford area. Very willing to share info I have with others in the same search. Principal ancestors were Paul Hjalmer Moline and Peter Anders Moline, both of whom died in Rockford area. Peter was born in the Langhem or Hallenstad area of Sweden. Moline family ties into Swenson family and
Uhlin family from Sweden.
