I am just beginning a long journey on researching my family tree. Grandma doesn't remember much of my grandfather's family and he is deceased. My grandfather's name was Harold Waldemar Monson, his mother Helga Magdalina Monson. Harold was born (at a guess) between 1900 & 1915 in Denver, Colorado. He also had a brother named Gunnard. Any help would be appreciated. Somehow, Harold moved onto Downer's Grove & Chicago, IL area. Then, abt. 1960's moved on to Seattle, Washington.
Rumors in the family say that possibly Helga changed the spelling from Monsen or Munson to Monson. I have been told that Monson is the Norweigan spelling and Munson is the Swedish spelling. Again, rumors say that the family immigrated from Sweden in the 1800's.
