I'm looking for info on Domingo (Dominga) Monts de Oca.

She was married to Spainard Antonio Maximo Hernandez, one of the first settlers to Pinellas Co, FL near Tampa Bay. I think they were married during the 1840's and records show they have 2 children Mersa 1842 and Antonio 1848. Upon Maximos death in about 1852, it is rumored she went to Cuba and married a Gomez and eventually came back and sold Maximo's land in 1886.

Any leads on Domingo or Maximo would be welcome.

Thank you.
-Robert (g.g.grandson)

Once again does ANYBODY have any information on present day Montes family?

MONTES - RODRIQUEZ - REYES

P.S. THE RODRIQUEZ IS MY GRANDFATHERS MOTHERS MAIDEN NAME.
JUANITA RODRIQUEZ

I am looking for information on Toribio Montes de Oca. He is my wife's GG Grandfather. He married Maria Petra del Refugio Jiron Garcia around 1871. They had at least five children, one of whom, Francisca Montes Jiron, was my wife's G Grandmother. We think Toribio was born in Chihuahua around 1840. Refugio was born in Juarez and all their children were born there. The only marriage I can find in their children besides my wife's G Grandmother is Balente Panfilo Montes married to Rufina Ortega Rivas. Francisca married Santiago Ponce in 1897 in Juarez.

Any information would be appreciated.

Regards. Dave Nelson, Folsom, CA.

~~RELATIVES OF AGUSTINE & VELIA MONTEZ ~-IN CALIF.

My late Uncle was Agustin Aguirre Montez. Born 5/1907 in Mexico City, and lived in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mex with his parents and siblings. In 1919 the Montes family arrived in Newport News, Virginia. Sometime in early 1930's the came to live in Calif. He was married in Calif to Velia Montez. He passed away in 1947. I never knew my cousins, i was born in 1948. He had a daughter named Ruth Ann Montez born 1943 and passed away in 1985. Don't know if Thelma Ayres is related to my Uncle. I do know that my Uncle and his wife Velia had other children.
I am doing my family tree and need more info to complete the links. I am aware that my Uncle lived in West Los Angeles, CA. His tombstone reads his name as August A. Montez. Some family members go by Montez and some Montes within the same family of kin. Aguirre surname is from my grandmother Virginia Aguirre who was Agustin's mother.
I would be happy to share my family tree that i have done so far, let me know.
Sincerely,
Virginia Montes
Gina1019-62@msn.com

Maria Montes -- San Juan Cemeterio, Geronimo, Texas

Today I was "visiting" my great-great-grandmother's grave in Geronimo, Texas, and I tried to get all the legible headstones written down. I found the following:

“Una recuerdo a Buestra ija Maria Montes. Nacio el dia 4 de marso de 1915. Fallecio el dia 10 de marso 1931.” Since the month "marzo" is spelled with an s, the spelling could also be Montez.

I don't know if there's a relation but nearby is another grave, Santiago Montez -- Nacio 1864 Fallecio 1932.

Geronimo is a tiny town, close to San Marcos to the north and Seguin to the south. It is in Guadalupe County.

That's all the info I have on Montes/Montez… But if you have questions about the cemetery location, let me know.

There were also two half brothers one Emilio and I believe the other was Emigdio. They immigrated to the US through El Paso. I am aware that some of my fathers' cousins still living in Parral are teachers. My dad was the only issue of his parents marriage. Teresa, Emilio and Emigdio were victims of the pandemic of 1918.

I hope I can help. In hispanic cultures the midle name (mother's surname) is usually placed in the middle for a male child. In the instance of a female child after her marriage her own surname is usually placed in the center. This custom is helpful in determining family lineage. Good Luck!

Am looking for family in Hidalgo de Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. My father Ignacio Rodriguez was born there 9/3/1904. His parents were Maria Teresa Rodriguez and Ignacio Montes.

Juana Gonzalez de Montes came from Guadalajara and Juan from Guymas. I have record that date as far as 1858 for my great-great grandmother's batism in Mexico but I'd like to put some modern pieces together.

I am a deadend . . . for now. I am seeking some info on my great-grandfather, JOSE MONTES. He married Ventura Corntinas(z). The date of his birth and the date of his marriage are unknown by me. They lived in Mexico and then moved to Texas. My grandfather was born in 1894 either in Eagle Pass, Texas or Del Rio, Texas. The actual location is unclear. Now, I would like to know if any person has any relatives that could be tied to my great-grandfather's siblings. I know nothing about his siblings and would like to get some information regarding his family and hope this will lead to more information about my family. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
