LOYD states that this family are probably a junior branch of the lords of the honour of Montfort-sur-Risle: Eure, arr. Pont-Audemer, cant. Montfort in Normandy. A fuller account is given in CP. Beaudesert Castle (near Henley in Arden), Warwicks was held by the family from at least 1141.
