I have found two more of Timothy and Abigail's children. I have found numerous censuses connecting the individuals. It seems that Abigail married Joseph Treat the guardian of her son Menander after her husband's death. If anyone would like information, please contact me.

Thanks!
Trina

Also, Peter Mooers, b. 20 Aug 1780 in Candia, Rockham, N.H. I am trying to identify the children of each man. If anyone can help, it would be deeply appreciated!
Sorry, all. When I submitted the last thread my computer kept saying it wasn't able to send it. So I ended up sending it four times! Anyway, does anyone know if there is a resource for finding a physician in Maine circa 1846? The sites I have looked at have only been certain counties.
John E. Mooers said he was a physician. I am trying to track whether this was really the case. Thanks again!

He was married to Mary Jane Cooley b. abt. 1833. I can't seem to locate their parents! Also Mary Jane was born in NY according to both the 1870 & 1880 censuses. Guess these would be correct. Does anyone have a line on any information on John Edmund Mooers? Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Leon Mooers of MA

I am looking for information about my father Leon Mooers who was born in Sommerville, MA, about 1904.

He met my mother, Grace Esther Collison, while working in Florida as a Civil Engineer/Surveyor. They were married in 1927, and moved back to Manomet, MA, in 1929 after the stock market crash.

I was born in 1930 and lived with his parents (my grandparents) shortly after they separated in 1930 until they divorced in 1935.

My Grandfather's name was Thomas Mooers and the last time I saw him was in 1950 just after my Grandmother died but quite some time after Leon had remarried.

The last time I saw my father, Leone, was in 1940 in Worcester. The last I heard about him, in the early 70s was that he was the Chief Draftsman at the Boston Navy Yard.

Later, when I visited the site of my Grandfathers home in Manomet in the '70s and again in the '90s I discovered that the house had burned down and been rebuilt on the same foundation and that Leon had moved to Florida when he retired from the Boston Navy Yard although no address was known for him.

I would appreciate any information you can give me about my father and his parents or second family.

Gerry Dyar (Thomas Gerald Mooers before adoption)

I am looking for information on Emeline Mooers..married Allen Gardner April 9th, 1869 at Bellville, Fillmore County Minnesota
I think her mother's name was Rosina. After Allen Gardner died in 1887, she married Christ Rasmusson at Great Bend on December 3rd, 1889 I'm pretty sure Emeline and George were my great grandparents. Am just getting started on this part of my family history.

Hazen Mooers Hyland Book

My mother wrote a beautiful hard bound 226 page book titled The Bechtel-Hyland Family Genesis. She devoted quite a bit of her time writing it. My father, Hazen Mooers Hyland, is a decendent of Major Gen. Benjamin and Abigail (Hazen) Mooers. The book goes into detail about this line. It also shows a picture of my Dad holding General Ben Moores' sword. The hilt is solid gold and the sword is
Damascus steele. It has been donated to a museum in Plattsburgh since the picture was taken. There are pictures of Benjamin's will, a copy of his pension from the Treasury Dept. There are pictures of Susie Bell Mooers dated 1898, Susie Bell Gilbert and Benjamin Mooers at the time of their marraige, 1878, Miriam Dorothy Mooers, their daughter dated 1896, and a portrait of Benjamin and Helen Mooers, the only two of nine children of Susie and Ben who lived to adulthood taken about 1886. If you would like more information, please contact me, Cyndie, at pebble@pugetsound.net.

I live on MOOERS street in a house built in the 1850's by the MOOERS family. One of my co-workers tells me the MOOERS family was involved in the railroad line coming through town, but I can't remember how right now. There are MOOERS tombstones in the cemetery down the street. I am in Massachusetts.

Are any of you interested in any of this info? I would be happy to share.

I don't suppose you have run across a Josiah Mooers somewhere in your research. Supposedly he is the half brother of my great grandfather Daniel Moores. Josiah was living in Caribou, ME in 1877 according to that town's tax records and was joined there by Daniel and his family in 1884 or 1885 after a five year stint in Kansas. Josiah's wife was Delphina Reynolds. Josiah died in 1907 and is buried in Caribou, ME.

Re: Nathaniel Mooers and Rebecca (Betsy) Mitchell

Wondering if anyone has family tree for Nathaniel Mooers or Rebbeca Mitchell. The information I,m most interested in finding is date of death of Nathaniel Mooers and place of burial and Rebecca,s mother, Sarah Crabtree,s mother,s name. I know that Rebecca left Doaktown, NewBrunswick and died in Milo, maine around 1882. I don,t know if Nat went with her, or died in NewBrunswick before she left. Also believe Sarah Crabtree,s mother,s surname was Black, don,t know first name. I have info on daughter Sarah Mooers.
A. T. Mooers to Ashland, ME from Vassalboro, 1842

For anyone interested, here's a paragraph about an early settler of Ashland, Aroostook, ME, Mr. A. T. Mooers.

"Mr. A. T. Mooers came from Vassalboro in the fall of 1842. Mr. Mooers brought with him a stock of boots and shoes and commenced trading in a building on Bearce's Flat. He after wards moved the store to a corner of the Presque Isle Road and sold it to J. Sinclair & Co., a firm doing a large business, and went into their employ as a clerk. After a few years he formed a co-partnership with Messrs. Jewett & March under the firm name of A. T. Mooers & Co., which continued for ten years. In the meantime he bought the farm where he now resides and in 1863 built a large store with a hall overhead on the corner of the Presque Isle road. Here he continued to trade until the store was burned in 1890. Mr. Mooers has long been very much interested in fruit raising and has done much for its encouragement in his vicinity. He is the originator of the Mooers' Arctic Plum, which has proved to be a most valuable plum. The Arctic is a seedling from a plum which Mr. Mooers bought in Qunicy Market, Boston. After raising a number of the trees, and proving the excellence of the fruit, he sold the trees to Mr. Sharp of Woodstock, who has since propagated them quite extensively. Mr. Mooers was appointed postmaster of Ashland in 1845, and held office until after the Cleveland administration came into power."

From: Wiggin, Edward; History of Aroostook, Vol. I, Part I; as compiled by George H. Collins; pp. 70-71

This book is available as a facsimile reprint (and undated, but from the 1890's)from Higginson Books online.

I am looking for any information on Maryette Mooer. The only time I found her last name was on a marriage intention. Even on her death record it only asks for the name of her husband, Sylvanus Aldrich. They lived in Southwick, MA. She died on October 28, 1856 at the age of 41 putting her birth at 1815. I could not find a birth record but early Southwick records were destroyed, if she was born there. Her marriage intention says "she was of this town." Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. My e-mail is dawnmquinn@home.com

Steve thanks for your interest. This is how I'm connected:

Travis Muilenburg
Richard Muilenburg (My Dad)
Vanita Hicks (Richards Mother)
Grace Coffin (Vanitas Mother)
Edger Coffin (Graces Father)
Peter M. Coffin Jr. (Edgers Father)
Peter Coffin Sr. (Peter Jr's Father)

Peter Coffin Sr. married Charlotte Mooers, Dec.3,1812. It is presumed that they were married on Nantucket Island, Massachusettes. I do know that Charlottes parents were Robert Mooers and Mary Suain. Robert Mooers Father is Johnathon Mooers, and Roberts mother is Hannah Caulder.

I would be interested in any help that you could give me in relation to the Mooers family line and their history. (The above information is contained in two books, "The Coffin Family" and "The Coffin Family Bible".) I'm going to write to the Haverhill Public Library tomorrow, hopefully they can send me some more information. I went to haverhillma.com but I was unable to locate the library, however other libraries were listed. Thanks again Steve for your help and for writing me back.
Travis

The local librarian took an interest when my brother asked about the history and told her his name. She showed him the town's cemetary with Mooers' going back to the 1600's. My grandfather was William Herbert Mooers. He died in 1953ish. I know little about his family. They lived in the Atlantic City area. My father used to lifeguard there in the mid 40's
