Hi Lois, Actually I don't have much in the way of info on Duran. What I do have pertains to the part of my family he impacted.
He's my great-great grandfather, but he never married my gggrandmother. Her name was Rebecca Holden, they had two children-Elizabeth, abt.1849-50 and my great grandfather, George-they took the Holden name. I received info from another researcher about a Duran/Durin Moore who had married a Charity Gore in Dec. 1850-they left for a wedding trip to FL(they might have been moving there)and they were murdered on the way in GA. I have a copy of the newspaper article.
None of Duran's family was ever listed-the Gores never had any info on him and my family doesn't have anything but his name. My grandfather's middle name is Duran and a cousin also was given that name, in honor or Duran Moore.
This is why it's been so hard to find anything at all about this man. Unless he wrote anything down I see no way to prove where and who he came from-but I have to believe that there is information somewhere.
