I need some help. I can't read the name for James's mother. I do know the maiden name is Moorehead. Can someone help me to decipher the first name. This is my stumbling block. I've been stuck here for at least 3 yrs. I have found the family of James Miller b1848. but i can't seem to find out anything thing about the father or mother. I can't read her first name. and the father's name doesn't give up any clues either. Can someone please help?

Here is some information about my lineage. Most of them came from th Valdosta Ga. (Berrien/Lowndes/Lanier co.). I've been researching information on the Moorehead family and did'nt find much. I hope we can help each other.

gggrandmother- Milley Bell

ggrandparents- George Bell m. Mary (Moore) Bell
Their children: Rachel, Mary, Katie, Ella, Fannie, Simon Peter (granddad), Matt, Willie, Wash, John, Prime

Grandparents- Simon P. Bell m. Christina/Tina (Moorehead)Bell
Their children: Willie Mae (mom), Mary, Lottie, Essie, Carey, Nathan (youngest), Yancey, Thelma, Lewell, Lace, Lonnie

Great aunt- Mary Bell m. Jim Burgman
Their children:
Martha Burgman m. Justin Wright children (Frances, Carey, George, ?)
Hattie Burgman m. D.B. Roundtree children (Jake, J.R., May)
Ilene Burgman m. Mary Shey
Johnnie Burgman m. Rosalie Daly

Great uncle Willie Bell m. Sara Adams children (Frances, Cecily, Carey George)

The following information was sent to via genealogy.com:

Christina age 16 with her mother Charlotte a age 51 b. GA and brother John age14. Shows mother as widow.
That was all I could find on Moorehead.

Bell---Probably Peter was son of George & Mary Bell--found in Lowndes Co., GA in 1870, and 1880. George was b. 1845 in GA. Mary b. 1849 GA. In 1880 they had 10 children with Peter being 4th youngest. Also living with them is George's mother Milley b. 1812 in GA
1910 Lowndes Co., & 1920 Berrien Co have Peter and Christina (she is listed as Tina 1910) and their children. 1930 Lanier Co. Peter is a widower age 52 with 10 children ranging in age from 28 to 3 1/2. Judging from age you gave--your mother was Willimae age 8. ?

Are you certain about the Irish link?

No relation to me, but I did find a Stevenson Moorehead on the IGI for you:

STEVENSON MOOREHEAD , Male
Event(s):
Birth: 16 APR 1856 Old Luce, Wigtown, Scotland

Parents:
Father: STEVENSON MOOREHEAD
Mother: MARY CLERK
___________________________________

Also on the IGI, for the same parents, but with the alternative spelling MUIRHEAD, is this record:

ELIZABETH MUIRHEAD, Female

Event(s):
Birth: 16 DEC 1858 Old Luce, Wigtown, Scotland

Parents:
Father: STEVENSON MUIRHEAD
Mother: MARY CLARK
_______________________________

The details look close enough to warrant some investigation, given the rarity of the names.

Good luck
