I know there wont be any record of her being her father but if any one knows from hearing stories please let me know.
Thanks

Does anyone have any info on the 12 yr old female, Louise Gawtley (might be incorrect as it is very hard to read this page), living with them as an adopted daughter. Further searching, using Soundex, listed her as Louise Sawlthey and gave her relationship as adotped grand-child.
Death of Mrs. M. S. Mooring

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 10 June 1892 ...

Mrs. M. S. Mooring, the aged mother of Mr. Will Mooring and Mrs. J. B. Porter, passed peacefully away at her home on Rockwall Avenue Saturday afternoon. She was 73 years of age. Her health failed her sometime ago, since which time her strength had gradually decreased until she became so enfeebled as to be perfectly helpless. Death came as a boon to her who had suffered so long and patiently, and although her loving children were agonized and kind friends were shocked by the read summons, they were consoled by the thought that as a woman of great good faith and high christian character her reward was sure. The burial took place at the Methodist church Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Rosser delivered a very feeling discourse, after which the remains were followed to their last resting place in the cemetery by a large concourse of friends.

J.W. Mooring (John) enlisted age 18 in Capt. A. C. Allen's Co. Texas Volunteers March 31, 1862. He enlisted as Private for 3 years or the duration of the war. The rendezvous was Camp Waterhouse, near Jefferson, Marion Co. Texas and he apparently traveled 5 miles to the rendezvous. He was transferred to Capt. S. A Minter's Co.K, then to Co.C of the 19th Texas Infantry. No information on injuries although on the Regimental Return dated April 1865, he was shown as "Detached from service. Invalid Corps. July 10, 1864"

Could John W. Mooring (born ca 1845 TN) be the son of Henry and Sophia Mooring who were listed on the 1850 census Henderson Co. TN?
On that census there is a Nancy Green listed in the household. Was she related to Sophia Mooring (mother?) If the census records are reliable it appears Henry and Sophia were in Texas in 1863 and two children were born in Texas - Mary and Henry.

Re: John W. Mooring

I am seeking information on a John W Mooring, born about 1846-1847 in Tennessee, father born North Carolina & mother born Alabama.

I found a man of this name listed as John W Mooring in 1880, living in Fannin county Texas, born in Tennessee, fb NC, mb Alabama, "one arm off". There was a wife living with him named Margaret, and a younger brother named Henry B Mooring who was listed as 10 years old, born in Texas (fb NC, mb Ala).

In 1900, John W Mooring was found living in Indian Territory (53, born Dec 1846 Tennessee), living as a boarder, and his brother Henry Mooring (31, b. Sep 1863 Texas) was with him, also listed a boarder in the same dwelling.

In 1910, John W was living around the area of present day McIntosh county (town of Burton), age 63 (died before 1920). He was married to Ruth (a 23-year-old woman), and was listed with one child (John H), but the wife's information showed that she had 3 children by 1910, only 1 living.

Mrs. R A Mooring is shown in a marriage book for 1913-1916, McIntosh county, Oklahoma, for a license to W H Day.

The 1920 census indicated three additional Mooring children, and Ruth was married to Wm. H Day and had 2 more children, Clay and Wiley. By 1930, there were a total of 5 Day children.

The 4 Mooring children that lived were apparently named John H, Andrew Jackson (Jack), Eliga (Lige), and Mary Jane. The Day children (half-siblings of the Mooring children) were William C, Wiley, Lloyd, Lenore, and Ira.

Does anyone know anything about this John W Mooring, his parents & siblings, his children & other descendants, or the lineage that's associated with them?
I need help finding the parents of John A. Mooring who was supposed to have been born in NC or NY (and supposedly became a doctor in Greenville, NC). He married Charlotte Mary Connell in Jackson, Madison Co., TN on 21 Dec 1860.

Family lore says he was a doctor from NC and served in the Civil War. I can't find any proof of his being a doctor. The Civil War record I found show him enlisted in Dec 1861 and discharged Jan 1862 for medical reasons (rheumatism).

Charlotte died Sep 1866 in Jackson and he died Jul 1868 in Jackson.

They had two children that I know of:

1. John Thomas Mooring, b. 20 Nov 1860 in Jackson, m. Helen Long 17 Aug 1890, Carlisle, Lonoke Co., AR Or Prairie Co., AR, d. 10 Nov 1941, Clarendon, Donley Co., TX.

2. E.B. Mooring, b. 21 Oct 1863, TN, m. Suzie E. abt 1894, d. abt 1944, Madison Co., TN.

It would also be great if I could find out who took these children in when their parents died.

Thanks for any help you can give me. We are having a Mooring family reunion on 22 October in Amarillo, TX and I would love to crash through this brick wall before then.

Happi

My grandfather's name was Marshall Columbus Mooring b. 26 June 1900 d. 30 November 1962 (spouses Betty Elizabeth Tydal & Inda Jane Potter Dever Heath). I have not confirmed this for a fact but I believe my Great Grandfather was Byant Mooring. I also believe, but again this is not confirmed, that Thomas Mooring b. 1872 d. 1921 (spouse Hattie); Henry Clay Mooring b. 08 May 1877 d. 29 March 1955 (spouses Eva Mae & Mammie Hooten); and Patrick H. Mooring b. 03 November 1916 d. 22 January 1936 (spouse Sarah Whaley) were my Uncles & Aunts. All were buried in the Hull Church Road Cemetery in Snow Hill, Greene County, North Carolina with the exception of Bryant and his wife Pennie Caraway. The only confirmation that I have is that Marshall is listed on my father's birth certificate. I have a copy of Henry Clay Mooring's death certificate, but it doesn't contain information naming his parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can email me directly or leave me a message on the board, which ever you prefer.

What little information I have regarding my Grandfather Marshall Columbus Mooring is that he married a lady by the name of Suki. He died in November of 1962 and is buried in Green County at a church cemetary. I don't know who his father was and little is known about Marshall except the early census records naming him and his first wife and first child. He is buried next to his first wife. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
