The story I have heard is he died in a card fight on the Mississippi River. It seems when he died no one talked about him. I have found it hard to find any real info on him Carol Goodwin

Are you Kathleen Irene, born 11-25-1957? Yes, I have a couple pictures of Jesse Moran and Ida Mae, Jesse's wife, born 5-2-1864, died 12-18-1943. The geneology I have is of the descendants of Claude Le Maitre, which in my short review is of Ida Mae lineage.

Hi SlFreeman,

Jesse Barnett Moran was my Great Grandfather too. As my Mother told me they were called the "Three Gems". I am interested and I hope you reply again. Ruby Mae Moran was my Grandmother, although I never met her I did meet (briefly) Great Aunt Pearl. I was really young and only remember her at thin and tall - compared to me. Jesse Moran is a bit of a mystery to me. Do you have pics of Great Grandma Moran? I don't much about her. There is so much in our history that is so interesting. My Mother was Ruby's youngest daughter and I am my parents youngest daughter out of six. Cordially, Kathleen

Jesse Barnett Moran is my great grandfather. He had three daughters, Ruby, Garnett, and Pearl. My father, James Ormand Duncan is Pearl's only son. Pearl was married twice, first to Duncan and the second marriage was to Charles Shackelford. Garnett never had children, she married Emmit Anderson. I never knew Ruby. I have quite a family tree/history that Pearl completed while she was alive. This dates back to the time the Moran's migrated to the United States and ends with the birth of my daughter Jessica.

POW/MIA Korean War, MORAN

I am searching for the families of a soldier with the surname Moran that were lost in the Korean War. At this time the government has no family contact. At the time he was lost his remains were not recovered. Family DNA is needed to identify remains if and when they are recovered. At the time they entered service they gave their Home of Record as posted below

Soldier: DONALD STEWART MORAN
Born: 1929
Date of loss: Nov. 29, 1950 MIA
Home of Record: Santa Cruz Countgy, Calif

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. Our government has no family contact for this soldier.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
517 Mohican Trail
Wilmington, NC 28409

40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Hi,

Yes, Rush enlisted in Indiana. According to his file, he died on 20 September 1893 in Wilmington, Illinois. He'd been living in Kankakee, Illinois--thus far nothing there either, but I am continuing to search. I will add Wilimington, IN to the list of places, thank you!

Hi R. Emmet,

I'm Michael and Harriet Kilmarten's gggg grand daughter through Mary Kilmartin and John Moran. I had heard that we were related to some "Arnold's" but I could never find them in any of my geneology info - now I know...thanks!

In your post, you mentioned that you had recently added Mary Kilmartin Moran to your Kilmartin History. I know that she died before 1875 in Amsterdam, NY - that's the next town up from Schenectady, where her brother John was a grocer.

Anyway, my aunts and uncles will be thrilled to hear this latest family information! Thanks so much!
-Pamela Moran

They had the following children William, James, Mary, Hannah, Jane Georgiana, Susannah, Elizabeth, and Henrietta Montague Scott Moran. Henrietta was born 14 April 1852 and baptised 15 Aug 1852. I cannot find record of her marriage or death but in 1878 she was still alive according to a letter written by my Great great grandfather James Moran.

Also, their first born was William born 1 Mar 1833 - trying to trace where he moved.

It would be good to learn where James and Susan came from in Ireland.

Thanks. My email is: rspacer@yahoo.com

I am not at all certain this Mary is the Mary Decker who was married to my late great uncle Waldo Pierce Decker. Only a marriage certificate can attest to that. On my great uncle's CA death certificate if lists "Mary Decker" as his wife. No maiden name or name of her parents is listed, although the certificate lists his parents names. He died in Long Beach, CA June 1964.

My uncle was a merchant marine officer. There are many entries online that show him in passenger lists going through US customs. On entries up to the 1950's he was listed as single. Since he died in 1964 at most he was married 10 years or so.

His obituary very strangley does not mention his wife. It does mention he moved to Long Beach recently from Weehawken, New Jersey. This is confirmed by the death certificate where there is a box to check if the decedent lived in California less than one year. There is no CA marriage record of Waldo. If he and Mary were married in NJ, that record is unavailable as marriages after 1940 are not public.

Are Maryland marriages public? Do you have access to those records?

Being a merchant mariner, Waldo could have married Mary anywhere on earth. Getting married in the Washington, DC area is also believable, as he was discharged from the military there. I have simply run into a dead end with this research. Thanks for any help.

My gg grandfather was Patrick Moran (b. 1843 Ire) in Natick married to Margaret (b. 1848 Mass). From my research there may have been two of these couples in the Natick area. The Patrick Moran that I descended from is identifiable by an injury to his hand during the Civil War (lost work in shoe industry).

Because of the loss of the 1890 Census, I had to sort out all the Morans in Natick Town Clerk Reports in a spreadsheet. All of the names you are discussing are familiar to me. I am happy to share this with you.

Maybe we can determine if there was any connection between the Moran families prior to Natick.
