Classification: Query
Surnames: Moray, Morey, Conklin, Sanderson
J.A. Moray was born 12 May 1858 in Seneca Falls, New York to Israel Morey and Mary Conklin, later Israel changed the spelling of the last name from EYY to A-Y. I thought it would be a good idea to make a board specifically for the Moray's with an A-Y to post information, seperate from the Morey board. I believe some of John's brothers kept the EYY ending and some changed to A-Y. Israel moved his family from New York, to Williams County, Ohio, and then to Fremont Twp., Isabella Co., Michigan. John became a minister with the Methodist Protestant Church in Michigan and traveled all over the southern half of the lower pennisula in his work. He married Clara Sanderson and they had 7 children, Rachel May b. 1886, Frederick Augustine (my great grandfather) b. 1887, Tina Clarella b. 1890, George E. b. 1892, John Adrian b. 1896, Freeman (Esek) b. 1898, and Viletta Helene b. 1908. John was instrumental in the formation of Midland Park, the Methodist Church camp at Gull Lake in Kalamazoo Co., Michigan. In addition to being a minister he worked with eyeglasses, photography, and sold a medicine called Catarrh Remedy. He died in 1930 at Midland Park. If anyone would like any more information, just go ahead and post or send me an email, Thank You.
