We could have visited her if we had known!
I am new to Facebook, (having been dragged into it by my daughter) so my email address is chrissiruf@gmail.com Martin says you lived on main st. in northport. Did you know Art& Vivienne MacNamara at 135 Bayview? Vivi and I were TWA flight attendants, going back to 1966. It is so creepy finding connections, and we have no relatives left on my mum's side except one cousin I can't find in the UK.

Wow - I can't believe that your grandmother Dorothy S. Badger lived in Bohemia, and I lived in Oakdale, the town South of you until 1999. My daughter went to the Conetquot H.
William Y. Mordecai obit, Henrico Co VA, 3/27/1900

The Richmond Dispatch, Tuesday, March 27, 1900, page 6
MR. W. Y. MORDECAI DEAD.
He Passed Away Sunday Morning
Other Deaths Sunday.

Mr. William Y. Mordecai, one of the oldest and best-known residents of Henrico, died Sunday morning at 2 o’clock at “Rosewood,” his home, near Young’s Pond. Deceased had been in ill health for more than a year, and during the past few months had been confined to his bed.

Mr. Mordecai was in the 64th year of his age. He was one of the best citizens of Henrico, and took the liveliest interest in all that pertained to its welfare.

He was for a long time superintendent of the Brook Turnpike Company, and served a number of terms on the Board of Supervisors. He was a devoted member of Emanuel Episcopal church, and was the senior warden of the vestry.

Mr. Mordecai was the quartermaster sergeant of the Second Company of Howitzers, and served gallantly during the war between the States. At the close of the struggle he took up his residence on the farm of his uncle, John B. Young, at the place known as Young’s Pond. When the Howitzers organized their association he became a member, and was a regular attendant at the annual meetings of that body until year before last.
He is survived by a widow and five children, all of whom reside in Henrico County, except Mr. Augustus Mordecai, who is now in California. His sons are Messrs. John B., Augustus, Norwood, and Thomas Mordecai. His daughter is Miss Rose Mordecai.
The funeral took place at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon from Emanuel church, and was conducted by Rev. B. M. Randolph. The Pall-bearers were Messrs. C. T. Watkins, H. C. Beattle, Joseph A. Johnston, Joseph Bryan, T. C. Redd, Gervas Storrs, W. H. Urquhart, and N. W. Bowe.

** NO RELATION--JUST PASSING INFORMATION ALONG**
I am part of the Jewish Colonial Mordecai family. I do have records and connections of the Mordecai family of Richmond Virginia. My main focus is Alfred Mordecai who went to West Point class of 1823 and Charles Abraham Myers who went to West Point ten years later in the class of 1833. The clan is called the Myers, Hays, Mordecai family.

My grandfather (Richard William Mordecai, born in Ferndale, Wales in 1904) came to the U.S. in 1922. Both he and his brother Tom ended up on Long Island by the 1930s.

My grandfather died in 1945 (accidental death at work), but my grandmother Doreen Stanley Mordecai (nee Badger) stayed in the US. Thanks to the work of my sisters and cousins, this branch of the Mordecai family is growing at a good pace. :)

My mother (Joan Doreen Garnar, nee Mordecai) and I traveled to Wales in 2006 to visit family, including some of our Mordecai cousins. Our branch can be traced back to a village called Llansannor in the Vale of Glamorgan.

On my tree I have John Mordecai born about 1871 who married a Catherine Ofarrell born abt 1887. They both lived in the Swansea area as do the rest of my family. They had about 10 children.

Please let me know if this is any help or whether there is some sort of link.

Regards
Lisa Cox

I have kinspeople buried in Crawford and was taking photos - I do not know the Mordecai family personally.
I know the wife(still living) was a Phillips. Mr. Mordecai was a member of the Lowndes County MS sheriffs dept. From other info I think they matyhave originally been in the South Al area - but that is just a guess.
I believe Mr Mordecai lived in Columbus, MS. Try a google search for :

Mordecai lowndes mississippi

You will get a bit more info.
If you want the photo - 2meg JPEG - let me know off the board.
HD
I am the granddaughter of Ellen Mordica, I remember Fannie and her sisters, Alice and Mandy. The parents were George and Martha Burrows or Burris. Martha died giving birth to a son, George. This was when my grandmother was about 11. I have pictures, and some very good stories about George. I will be glad to share with you.
Joanna,

Would you happen to have seen any documentation showing who Abram Mordecai's parents were? I'm still not sure if he was from this line, or from the Moses Mordecai/Elizabeth Whitlock line. I'm talking about the Abram Mordecai that was a trader with the Creek Indians and lived in Georgia and Alabama from 1785 until his death in 1849.

Judy L.

I am searching for any descendants of this couple. I have a photo of Drucilla Lanford, as a fairly old woman, and considerable info about her family (the Lanfords).

These people are not my line but the Lanfords & Mordecais intermarried with my family, the Wheelers -- particularly those in Denton and Hale Counties TX.

I'm currently chasing the family of Ruth Graham Stalcup. She is buried in the Wheeler family plot, Plainview, Hale Co TX (I have NO clue why) and was living near James & Drucilla Mordecai in Clovis, Curry Co NM, 1920. I believe she is somehow connected to one of these two people.

July, I have a fairly complete list of descendents of Mordecai Moses Mordecai-Moses Mordecai and Goodman Mordecai.
The only Abraham listed is Abraham F., who died 8/30/1858.
He is under Samuel Mordecai, son of MMM. I don't think this is who you are looking for.
If you've run into Keith Mordecai, you'll know that he is trying to track Abram, also.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Hello.

I am looking for any information which might lead me to Monty Mordecai, who was last known to be living in Maryland.

Monty's mother was Mary Mercer Forsythe. Mary's mother was Ethel Laura Gosnell. Ethel married John Royden Fefill Forsythe in 1908. Mary married a Mordecai probably sometime in the 1930s. Mary had a brother named John Royden Forsythe who was killed sometime after having endured the Bataan Death March.

I am hoping that Montague "Monty" Mordecai is still alive and well, and that he might find this post through one of the major search engines on the Internet. I would love to share photos and stories.

I have been researching my husband's family for several years. He is descended from Mordecai Moses Mordecai from Tels, Lithuania.
