Peter
Thank you so very much for the information you sent to me. How come you had this information, are you related?
Can you tell me whereabouts the birthplace of Henry and Elizabeth is - that is St.Geroge?
It certainly looks as though this might be my relations as the date of Joseph's (aged 6 shown on the list you sent me) coincides with the details I have been trying to find out.
I now live in Australia and am interested in trying to find out if the Morecrofts here - arrived in Australia about 5 generations ago are related to my own family. Therefore am going to try to trace these names. Any help from you?
Patricia

Hi Amanda:
Would you have a female MORECROFT, who would have been born approximately 1838-40, in the Greater London area, and who married a JOSEPH RUST, in approximately1855 - 1858?
I have her name from my g-grandmother's death record, but no first name. My g-grandmother's name was ELIZABETH SARAH RUST, born 1858,
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Deborah

Hi Amanda,
I found the census for my Rust and her first name was Rebecca. They lived on Queens Rd. in Hammersmith for a long time. Not sure what I told you before, but their daughter Elizabeth Sarah, born 1858-9 (I'm waiting for her birth cert. that I ordered) July 17. She married my g-grandfather William Sargeant and lived in Plumstead.
On the census, it stated that Rebecca was born approx.1833 in Herne, Kent.
Ring any bells yet?
Deborah

I'm afraid it doesn't - most of my Morecrofts were in the north-west, and I can't see her on it. Perhaps when you get the marriage cert and find her father's name you could let me know? She might be the child of someone who wandered off from Liverpool and therefore wasn't recorded on my tree.
The only Norman I've got on my tree at the moment died in South Africa in 1901. Once you find your Norman's name, though, do get back to me as he might be a child missed off my list. The area strongly suggests a connection.

Amanda

My Morecroft link is from my g-grandmother Caroline Mary Morecroft, b. 1892. Her parents were Herbert Johnstone Morecroft, b. Rock Ferry, Cheshire1851, and Fannie Jane Chamberlain b. 1881 in Holborn, London (married 1890, Manchester). HJ Morecroft's parents were Thomas Laurence Morecroft, and Elizabeth Johnstone. I can trace the line back to Sylvester Morecroft, mayor of Liverpool, born late 17th century. I have much more data on this line, anyone else connected?

Can't be of much help to you at this stage; my father's family, the Morecrofts, came from the Liverpool/Cheshire area so you might try searching there. There doesn't seem too many Morecrofts around, so you may be lucky!

Hi, I think there may be a connection here somewhere.. My father, Derek Morecroft was born in Liverpool in around 1924. His father, Norman Morecroft, was married to I think to May, was widowed and remarried. We all grew up in and around the Wirral, Rock Ferry etc. Sorry if this sounds vague but I'm new to all this, saw your entry and got all excited!
