Thanks for your reply. I have been dealing with Morey families since 1984, started the Morey List with Rootsweb about 1997 and am convenor of the Morey Forum on a world-wide basis. The Forum has up to today amassed 277,103 Morey records of 235 spellings of Morey in Morey databases in several countries, NZL, AUS, CAN, USA, and ENG.

Your Morey data does make sense, but as Moreys yours die out. There are only a few of this clan alive today, part Egyptian living in Minnesota and a few other States where children have migrated to attend University or work.

Your Cyrus Morey born 05 Dec 1811 20 minutes south of you had a brother Napoleon Bonaparte Morey born 14 Mar 1827 at the same town. For this latter Morey who went to California with his father I have these notes:

William Morey the father returned to Maine.

When in the 1881 census for Saint George, Charlotte, NB, CAN I found Napoleon Morey 1881 aged 22 a servant from Ireland, I just tacked him onto your Morey clan due to his possible uncle Napoleon in California. After 1881 he disappeared off the Morey radar:

Your great grandparents were William Morey and Caroline Mary James. I think her parents were William Henry James and Adelia Goodeill. Your William Morey had a brother named Charles H Morey who married Eliza Jane James whose parents appear as William Henry James and Elizabeth Blakelin. If this were true they must have been half sisters.

You will have been in touch with Francine McEachreon-Breton in New Brunswick. A few days ago she was shovelling snow, while I was sitting 8000 miles away under my grapevine away from the sweltering heat, with a glass of New Zealand Oyster Bay Merlot in my hand.

Many years we (Constance Joy) pulled the Maine Morey marriages from the Archives and found Cyrus Morey marrying Lucinda Poor:

This record shows, Oxford, ME, USA, but you say Saco which is in York, ME, USA. These are minor details. The family had come from Connecticut.

Cyrus Morey was in the 1840 census in Perry, Washington, ME, USA. I have guessed his age as 28. His religion; Anglican would have come from a Canadian census:

If Cyrus and Marry Anne arrived in New Brunswick in 1838 from Maine he returned by 1840 to be in the census and was there again in 1842 for the court case. Where I found him as Sirus, I bent the record to Cyrus. Morey was spelt Moory and Mory at times. Gemima, 19 years, American, daughter must have belonged to Lucinda Poor, From Affa Morey on the mother must have been Mary Anne Of Western Isles.

I think you have pretty well got this KLN Penelope Chapman Morey family of Maine and New Brunswick sewn up. There are just a few marriages and deaths to find and as far as Morey goes it is finished. If you click on glloyddw you will se my New Zealand email address, but it is probably best to keep using Morey Rootsweb.

All the Morey emails go into the Morey email series distributed to the members of the Morey Forum and now amounting to 20370 pages (A4) mostly all linked to the Morey database and from it in bunches exported in comma delimited text to the Morey Researchers, this way we have world wide Morey back up.
