Do you know their religious affiliation? They could have been LDS/Mormon. The LDS church started up in 1830, were they born after that, or before that? Or it could just be a last name as a middle name.

Re: MORONI Italy->Michigan

Since my original posting, I've done some more digging and have come up with some additional results.

The Louis MORONI that ties into my line was born, according to his WWI Registration, 6 Apr 1875 in Milan Italy. That is the last record that I can find for him, from 1918. He married Mary Pomaville abt 1894 in Detroit MI. She died 7 Jan 1916 and is buried in Detroit next to her father and brother.

Louis and Mary had 5 known children; Leopold or Leo born 1897 in MI, David born 1900 in MI, Lillian born 1904 in MI, Rose born about 1895 in MI and Mary born abt 1899 in MI.

Rose married into the Ferresi family. Lillian never married. I see one of the children was based in Roseville MI and another ended up in Hillborough County in Florida, in the Tampa area.

If anyone can connect to any of these people, I'd appreciate hearing from you. My personal e-mail is; johnwi62@yahoo.com. Please use the surname MORONI in the subject-line when responding.

Thanks & SISU!
John in Racine WI USA

Hmm. I have a Louis, a Luigia, a Maria -- but I don't know if any ever lived in/near Detroit. Mine spent time in Chicago, Missouri and California. I will have to look at my family files to see where in Italy the family is from.

Please free to contact me off list.

I am looking for any info on the moroni family. My great grandfather was Vincenzo (Vincent) Moroni, born in Bariano (Bergamo province). He lived in Cuggiono (Milano province) before coming to the US. Other records show his birth place as Malvaglio. He was born in 1890. No info is too small. Feel free to email me @ lalexander98@yahoo.com
thank you,
Lynn

If there is any one with connections to the surname MORONI in Michigan, primarily in the Detroit area? Forenames like, Mary, Louis, Rose, Leo, David and Lillian keep popping up. Maybe you just happen to know anything about this family? I'd like to hear what you know or have heard as this is a possible connection to my Pomaville line.

Thank-you, John

When I was on my mission in Avignon, France in 1974. while walking through a cemetery I saw a monument for Ange (Not Angel) Moroni. I don't remember the date but I'm sure it is still there. My companion and I were sure surprised at the find as Avignon in the Provence used to be home to many Popes as The Palace of the Popes is quite the tourist trap.

MORONI et al

Carolyn-
Thanks for the note- The only ties I have are at the Civil War era.... a Soldier son Francis Nicholas KIA [I have a couple of letters he sent home], and Charlotte Anna [b. 14 Jan 1831 Boston, MA, m. George Washinton POPE 12 Dec 1850, d. 29 Apr 1892 N. Easton, MA] -> Francis Louis -> Nicholas [b. 11 Nov 1767 IT, d. 21 Jul 1808 Boston... don't know how he came, or if he travelled with other family, but he married Anne PEPPER 25 Aug 1803 in Boston] -> Andrea -> Andrea Giovanni -> Giovani -> Andrea.
I have some historical info before that, in Italy around Rome [Montenero Sabino Rieti], and a trail back to Cene Albino, above Bergamo in the North [where I went and had a drive/look around, saw a painting in one church, and looked at a church designed and ran by a MORONI, and looked at some books in Italian in the library]... There are a couple of famous MORONI's in the 15-1600's [art... some in museums around the world, architect, stone/masonry in a town called Padova near Venice], even a street and a plaza in memory of... but I haven't validated a familial tie there.... quite a strong 'asumption' though, all things considered.
My Aunt, in CA, may have more. She compiled a book, nearly 200 pages, on some of the family genealogy for a Christmas present. There is a Lousa MORONI b. Boston, m. Charles PHILLIPS, d. Oakland, CA 1908, son Norman d, 1937 in Oakland.
There is a famous MORONI in the Mormon studies, and a Moroni, UT... I did see some info on WWI and WWII veterans.

Hope this helps, and look forward to hearing from you. I am currently working in Germany, but will be on the East Coast next month for a course.

Winters_E@compuserve.com

Moroni

I have been concentrating on other surnames in my family tree, however, I have some relatives in the Seattle area (deceased and living) with the surname Moroni. I know little about them as the result of previous generations falling-out. With the little research I've done on the computer, I have found nothing connecting my more recent relatives with earlier Moronis (or other surnames for that matter). Can you trace anyone to the Seattle area? Who is your most recent Moroni ancestor? If you send me an E-mail address, I'll discuss the "dirty laundry" with you, but the involved parties are still alive and kicking and I shouldn't expose their lives on the internet quite yet. Thanks, Carolyn
