<description>Hi all my name is Iain Morpeth, for anyone interested my great uncle traced the family back to a town called Ruthwell in Scotland. The information is very thorough and dates back to 1283 to a guy called Thorald of Morpeth, but a detailed family tree goes back to David Morpeth 1579. I have visited the church at Ruthwell and the earliest grave that can be found or that I found from memory was 1625. If anyone whishes to contact me that’s okay I have the details on computer. <description>Blanchland cemetry has several Morpeths buried there. The parish records may indicate further information regarding the southern Morpeth clan. There was supposed to be 2 clans in Northumberland.
