Hi sorry i have taken so long to reply. all the data i have is from Scotland going back to the 15th century. I understand their was 2 Morpeth brother in the 17th century i think left Scotland and bought a passage to the USA and married 2 sister in Rhode Island. Regards iain

I was wondering if there is a I.G Morpeth (wife) and a L.A. Morpeth from New Jersey. These would have been my fathers mother and dad.

hello ihave just found sarah morpeth on 1881 census and thomas dowding was her son , we think this is our great great grandfather , cannot find anything else about sarah, we think we are related to macdonald family somewhere along the line, hope we are related as you know loads and iam new to this, dowdings came from newcastle, thomas was my grand dad and his father was thomas w,married to annie, best wishes fingers crossed. michele . ps also told we had scottish links

hello, i have just found sarah morpeth 1881 census, her son was thomas dowding, who i think is a great great grandfather to me, there is a lawrence green who is head, think this is also a relation to me , are they related to you please help as new to this and struggling , shelley

Hi all my name is Iain Morpeth, for anyone interested my great uncle traced the family back to a town called Ruthwell in Scotland. The information is very thorough and dates back to 1283 to a guy called Thorald of Morpeth, but a detailed family tree goes back to David Morpeth 1579. I have visited the church at Ruthwell and the earliest grave that can be found or that I found from memory was 1625. If anyone whishes to contact me that’s okay I have the details on computer. Iain

Hi. I was born Alan Morpeth May 1955 to Charles Henry Morpeth and Elsie Dorrity at Dilston Hall, Corbridge. Henry had brothers Trevor and Bob and a sister Joan. Henry's Mother was called Hannah and they lived in Rowlands Gill. Of any help? I'm trying to trace my roots too. Best regards

I am researching the MORPETH family, from Allendale, Northumberland, England.

My great great grandmother was Mary MORPETH, who was baptised in Allendale on 28th July, 1810.

Her parents were William MORPETH, who married Rachel BELL at Allendale on 11th April, 1807.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone else interested in this family.

Researching James Bruce MORPETH, married Frances LAMBERT in 1869 in Auckland, New Zealand. Son was William Henry Morpeth b. 1872 in NZ. William married Betha Isabel Gittos. They had three children, Kathleen (b. 1907), Margaret and William (B. 1909). Please reply to linda_hamid@hp.com

Blanchland cemetry has several Morpeths buried there. The parish records may indicate further information regarding the southern Morpeth clan.There was supposed to be 2 clans in Northumberland. Regards Alan Morpeth--Elsdon--Northumberland
