Hello. Trying to locate someone that might have knowledge of a Susan E. Morrisett that married a George P. McCann in Humphreys Co. Tn. and also Estella (aka Stella) Morrisett that married a Virgil Alonzo Rushing in Humphrey's Co. Tenn. This would be in the mid 1800's, Susan was married in 1863 and Estella was married in 1895. This is my family line and would love to hear from descendants of these families. Thanks, Martha

DATA: MORRISETTE (several different) listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Morresette, Evelyn
Morrisette, Bertha Evelyn (Lyn)
Morrisette, Lula
Morrissett, Lula Meribah [sic]

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

to ALL Morrisette's everywhere

my mother has in her possession the book of
the Morrisette family tree written and given to her by Edna Morrisette Shannonhouse. it begins with the first Morrisettes that came here from France, Thomas and Mary(nee Wade). they had a son named Thomas II. i don't know if he was born here or in France. but Thomas I, was one of 4 brothers that came here on a ship of some sorts when they were fleeing France to keep from being hung for breaking a friend out of jail for horse thievery.when the 4 brothers arrived in the u.s, they split up and one went north(canada), one went
to the southern u.s.(Thomas I),one went west
(california area), and the other one stayed in the east (in the carolinas). if anyone has traced their particular line back to one of these brothers, please e-m me at LDsGirlRT@aol.com. i'm not sure which brother
Thomas I was (1,2,3,4) but i'm hoping to get the names of the other 3 brothers. as you probably already know there are many ways to spell our name so don't let that dissuade you. as far as i am concerned the correct way is the way it was spelled by those 4 brothers, which is "MORRISETTE". but if you have another variation, you are still a member of the Morrisette family, be it.... Morrisette,Morrisett,Moriset,Morriset,
Morisset, Morrissette, Morisette, etc. looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Karen Morrisette
Does anyone know anything of a Richard Morrisett that married Rhode Davidson on 19 Dec. 1838 in Montgomery Co., TN? William Davidson was listed as security and James Nolen was the JOP. Thanks.

Robby Davidson
Princess Anne County Morrisettes

I grew up in Princess Anne County, VA. My grandmother was Thelma Morrisette (1903-1994), daughter of Peter Mitchell Morrisette (1880-1944) and Lydia Henley Morrisette (1885-1937). These Morrisettes lived around the Back Bay area.

Would anyone have any information that could connect my Morrisette line to the Thomas Morrisettes of the Back Bay area in Princess Anne County.

Thomas Morrisette - immigrant ancestor?

I am wondering if anyone can provide me with information about Thomas Morrisette, who supposedly immigrated to Virginia and was the progenitor of most, if not all, of the Southern Morrisette families.

What I'm interested in is any primary source documentation or records that can substantiate the existence of this man, or of his son Thomas. I have personally been unable to locate a single historical reference to verify any of the widely accepted information about either of these Thomases. Has anyone else?

I am descened from Joseph Morrisette, who came to Hawkins County, Tennessee and was the forefather of the Tennessee branches of this family. He is supposed to be the son of Thomas Morrisette, who in turn was the son of the immigrant Thomas Morrisette. I have never seen the book, but the "Morrisette" book by Edna Morrisette Shannonhouse is the only source I've ever heard cited for this information. Like I said, I've never read the book myself, but it is my understanding that she provided no sources for her information on these early Morrisettes.

My point is not to discredit Ms. Shannonhouse's work, but to try and verify my actual Morrisette lineage. A lot of people, including myself, have simply accepted this informatoin with nothing to back it up...or, so it seems. With what seems like a complete absence of substantiating evidence, I'm ready to start searching for other possible ancestors.
For example, is it not possible that there is a connection between "our" Morrisettes and the Morrisettes who were part of the Hugenot group that settled Manakin Town outside of Richmond, VA?

Of course, there may very well have been an immigrant Thomas Morrisett. I'm just trying to cover all bases and am coming up empty on evidence.

Does anyone have any info or thoughts on this? I'd certainly like to discuss the possibilities with other Morrisette researchers.

Thanks,
Randall Baker
Looking for any info re Morrissettes that lived in Island Pond.
Joseph Morrissette, born about 1867 in Canada and married to Delina Boutin was my great grandfather. According to census records they were naturalized in 1873 and 1878? Could be the print faded. According to family folklore and census records they had a number of relatives. Any info would be appreciated.

I have been trying to find information on my g-g-grandmother, Mathilda. She was born Aug. 18, 1858 in Stonefield, Quebec, Canada. She had 3 brothers and 4 sisters but as yet I haven't been able to locate any information on her or her family. I believe that her father was Baptiste Morrisette; mother Charlotte Hicks. I have gone back 27 generations on my fathers side but mom's side isn't as easy to locate. HELP! I would be very grateful for any help that I can get. D. Brethen

I dont know a lot about my Morrisette family I do knoe that my fathers name is David Morrissette I think his middle name is Alfred. His fathers name I think is Alfred Morrissette he lives in Connecicut somewhere, David lives in Florida. I meet David once when I was about 21. David and my mother never married so my birth name was kept as Bahre. they are from Germany and then settled in Connecicut, As did my fathers family when they came from Canada. My father had another son named David Morrissette I think he was or is liveing in Connecicut, I also have another brother Billy Morrisette he is about 18 years old. Kelly Morrisette about 20 yeras old and Jennifer Morrissette is about 23 years old. the three of them lived in Florida and as far as I know still do Somewhere in Hollywood, FL. That is the extent that I know of them. We all meet one time then lost contact again. I have there adress somewhere still and will try to write but I think they ended up moveing after a bad storm there one year. Dose anyone know these people or are they related to them. I have another family out there that I am kind of querious about and they have one they have never know as well. Thanks Jason Bahre (Morrissette)
