Harry Lee Mort was 6th child of David Thomas Mort (1864-1924) born in Wales and died in Niagara Falls, NY. His mother was Letitia Hughes Mort b.1870 in Wales and died in 1903 in Lilly, PA. See Mort Tree

Obituary for Martha (Mort) Holmquist

Martha Holmquist age 80 of Vicksburg died Monday January 1, 2007 in Borgess Nursing home in Kalamazoo. She was born December 15, 1926 in Elwood, IN the daughter of Fred and Edith (Croy) Mort. On September 3, 1946, Martha married Kurt Holmquist Jr. in Centerville and the young couple soon moved to Vicksburg.
Martha was a long time employee of the Vicksburg Schools working as a cook in the cafeterias at Sunset Elementary and Indian Lake Elementary before she retired. She also worked at the Vicksburg Broadcast many years ago.
Members of her family include her children Kurt of Portage Lake, Kerry (Dale Hansen) of Vicksburg, Kevin of Vicksburg, granddaughters; Niki and Anna Hansen, Danielle, Erika and Andrea Holmquist, a brother Ed Mort, sister Beverly Dennis, sister in law Martha Mort and many nieces and nephews and her special companion her dog Suzie. She was fondly remembered by her grandchildren for her special family dinners every Wednesday.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, her parents, brothers Fred and Bill Mort and a brother in law Richard Dennis. Martha has been cremated and no public services will be held. She will be buried with her husband at Fr. Custer National Cemetery where a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements by Life Story Funeral Home, RDMG Vicksburg, 409 S. Main St.

Louise Mort of 3667 West Valley Boulevard, Pomona,California died April 28th 2008 at her home. She was born in Bemidji,Minnesota on Dec 23 1918. A resident of Pomona,California since 1957 she was retired from Mt San Antonio College. Mrs. Mort attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Steve and Sue Mort of Ramona and 2 grandsons, Bryan Mort of Moreno Valley and David Mort of Ramona. A memorial service will be held Saturday on May 10 at 11am at Lighthouse Baptist Church 2600 North White Ave in LaVerne,California

Currently researching MORT families in Lancasire from the 1500's to the present day.
Willing to exchange info and copies of wills, certificates etc. Any family tree connections with other family names.
My own database contains several thousand entries taken from Parish Registers, Census Returns, Monumental Inscriptions, Copies of Wills, Newspaper Cuttings, and material researched by other family historians with similiar interests.
My own family have many connections with the Morts in Lancashire

I am researching my Mort family tree from these areas and have a fair amount of information that I am happy to share. However I am really puzzled by ARNOLD Mort born about 1600. Some records show him to be the son of Ralph Mort & Agnes Pinington, whilst other records say he was born in 1598 and was the son of Adam Mort of Dam House - Astley Manor and Jennett Mort. Can anyone throw any light on this mystery?

Hello Harry! I hope you can help me as I am stuck before I have begun to trace my family. My father was Leslie Mort born Jan 1933 and sadly he died 1985 my mother is Mildred (Anne) Mort nee Woodward my family have always lived in St.Helens as far as I know, while growing up I didn't know any of my fathers family and they were never talked about.

I have my grandfather's birth certificate, James Mort, he was born in 1881, his father was Thomas and his mother was Jane formerly Redhead. The address given for his parents is in Bootle. James was married in New Zealand in 1903, had 5 children, my father was one of them, and died there in 1955. I can't find the family in the census at all, can anyone help me??

We have a Charlotte Mort, believed to have been born in Hutton Lancs. about 1809. She married Edward Seddon and they are listed under Seddon in the 1861 census in Westleigh lancs.

I am searching for any birth details of Charlotte Mort and anything about her family.
