Only just discovered this site. My great grandfather came from Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire. Robert Mortis born March 2nd 1840 in Littleport. Mortis is a common name in that area especially with the double s spelling. Although I have information about his children I know nothing of his siblings or parentage. Perhaps there is some connection?<br>My grandfather and father, both Robert's, had the nickname rigor. I also was called rigor at school!
