Silas Mote was "...drafted at Columbia County, GA on or about the 15(th) day of August A. D. 1814 for the term of six months..." according to his original bounty land application for service during the War of 1812.

He didn't move to Murray County, GA until the late 1830s. He and his family were enumerated in the 1820 and 1830 Federal Census for Columbia County, and he sold land in Columbia County in 1837 and again in 1838.

There are a number of other Columbia County, GA histroical records for Silas, with a 1806 tax record being the ealiest I've been able to locate.

I too haven't been able to identity the wife of Silas, but he probably married in either Columbia or Warren County, GA in about 1800.
