Looking for information on Henry MOTT, and any of his forebears.
According to census returns, born abt 1820 in London. Died pre-1891 in Staffordshire.
Married Maria Williams at All Souls, St Marylebone, London in 1855.
Father = Thomas MOTT, I believe deceased before 1855 if the (very smudged) wedding certificate is correct.
Henry was a domestic coachman in service to Col. Hon. Charles James Fox Stanley (son of the 13th Earl of Derby) in 1861 at Thrybergh Park, Yorkshire, and in 1871 at Loxley Hall, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
In the 1851 census he is recorded as being in residence at Ormond Yard, St James', London - which is the mews to 8, St James' Square (I've visited in person), which was the London residence of Edward, Lord Stanley - later the 14th Earl of Derby and Prime Minister, elder brother of the earlier Hon. Charles; so maybe in service to Edward Stanley too?
So, lots of information about Henry from the census returns, but hitting a wall tracking down an accurate date of birth, or anything more than Thomas as his father's name (and that Thomas was a coachman too) with regard to his parents.
Can anyone help, please? Thank you!
