Brynne, are you still getting replys off of the message board? Sorry about the delay in answering have had a rather bad year with illness in the family and a change of E-mail address.

Christine (Motts) Hursh appears to be her actual name with Chrissie as a kind of diminutive name. Sine I put this message up here have obtained several photos of her and the family in Stroudsburg. She was my grandmother on my father's side.

The info I have on her is on my web page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ottotune/

Anyway would love to chat a bit via E-mail.

Hi Cynthia,

I have some information on Chrissie Motts Hursh. She was the sister of my great grandmother Katherine Motts Edwards. (I guess that makes us very distantly related?) I know that their parents Jacob Motts and Ellen (Dauber) Motts lived in a Sciota, a small town south of Stroudsburg, PA. Our family Bible has the following people listed as their children:

Charles Motts
Steven Motts
Alvin Motts
Frank Motts
Christine (a?) Motts Hursh
Carolyn Motts Bartholomew
Katherine Motts Edwards
Jennie Motts Shick

My mother recently told me some interesting stories regarding the death of Jacob and Ellen relayed to her by my great grandmother. Feel free to email me if you would more info or have questions.

-Brynne
Finally found it! www.dausa.de If you are not fluent in German, look on the left side and you should see a little half US/half GB flag... click on that and you will get english...

Rather nice site that has tons of info.. which can be the problem... getting through the tons of info... but if you have anything like a time of arrival (in the US) or time of departure (port in Europe) they can tell you where they sat in customs when they arrived... who else in the family was with them... what paperwork they had... what paperwork they didn't have, but should have had! Also stuff like, where did the journey begin...

Have fun!

In her brother's obit., Peter Benton Mitchell of John Day , Oregon, in 1942 she was listed as living in Quebec, Canada. Their father was William Mitchell. I know they were in Coleville , California in 1864 or 1869. I am looking for any Motts who may know of Jesse and of any other siblings to her. My great uncle Elmer Mitchell use to go to a place up in Canada, I believe it was called Woolen Mills, to visit relatives. Thanks Deanna. Willing to share my info.
