Nancy Mounce/Mounts was married to Alan Emmerson in 1810. They moved to Edwards County, Illinois in 1817 or 1818. See below for more information on her.
Louis Lincoln Emmerson, son of Jesse Emmerson, was born in Albion, Edwards County, Illinois 27 Dec 1864. He went on to become the Illinois Secretary of State (1916-1920); Lieutenant Governor in 1927; and Governor of the State of Illinois from 1929 to 1933.
Jesse Emmerson (1813-1893) was the son of Alan Emmerson (born 1791) and Nancy Mounce/Mounts. Alan Emmerson was the son of Jesse Emmerson (born 1767) who was the son of Samuel Emmerson and Mildred Potter. Samuel Emmerson was the son of Thomas Emmerson who died in 1790 in Albemarle County, Virginia.
The home in which Louis Lincoln Emmerson was born has housed the Edwards County Historical Society Museum (a not-for-profit) organization) since 1941.
The historical society has issued it's 2008 commemorative ornament and suncatcher of this building, the birthplace of Louis Lincoln Emmerson.
