Hi. I am trying to help a friend and coworker find her Cajun ancestry. She is newly interested in trying to find it. She told me today that she and her family are Cajuns, from Lafayette, LA, descended from Moutons who were kicked out of Acadia, in Nova Scotia, when the British ordered the great expulsion. She said her Mouton ancestors came from Port Mouton or Fort Mouton, but I think Port Mouton, in Nova Scotia. Her dad's name is Alcee Mouton and she has ancestors that are named Jean, Louis, and Alfred. That is all she told me; I hope it is enough to start.
