A few years ago, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Lucien Martin. He and his wife spent many years searching the Mouton's and Martin's family tree. They have written a book called, "The Mouton's". I purchased five books for each of my children. I have not been in contact with him lately. I have visited with them, and have just enjoyed sitting and listening to the stories. They live in Lafayette on Pont de Mouton Road. I'm not sure if there are many books available. It is an interesting book.

I have information on Willis and Maggie Mouton. Willis was somehow related to my father. I was told Willis was his uncle. Most of the information I have is on Maggie as I can't remember Willis. Maggie died in Texas in the 60's. Most of their children have also died. They have grandchildren and great grandchildren in Texas. This is quite interesting - I was looking at old photos and one of them is my great great grandpa and grandma and that happens to be Thomas "Tom" and Azelia Ryder. I'm writing concerning my research. My GreatGrandmother was Azelia Lemaire of Forkedisland. I believe she was born in Abbeville. She married my GreatGrandfather Thomas Rider from the Ville Platte area they raised their all 11 children near Forkedisland and later settled and died in Lake Arthur, LA.. In my search I found her to be on the Mouton family tree. My father has passed on now but he told me that we kin to the ex- Sheriff Ray Lemaire I wanted to know is this the same family. I am looking for more information on General Alfred Mouton of Louisana. The story I have heard is that my 3rd great grandfather was orphaned as a young man, and went to live with the General. I was hoping for more information on my 3rd great grandfather, and how (if so) he came to live with Gen. Mouton. Any information would be most apprecuated. Thanks

My Grandmother was a Mouton. She had relatives who lived in the Kaplan and Maurice area. I may have some info. that may be helpful.

I am trying to find information on my 2nd great grandmothers parents. My 2nd great grandmother was Motille (?) Creighton. Her parents I am told was John Creighton and ??? Mouton.
They were from Louisiana and I have been told that ??? Moutons family was the governor, mayor or some type of official like that. Motille married a William B. Sweeney and they lived in Texas and Louisiana and had 9 children. I have been given a copy of Motille Creighton Sweeney. My grandmother never her mother she died when my grandmother was 3 weeks old. She never know much about her mothers side of the family, My grandmother will be 92 this year and I would like to get as much info for her before she passes away. If anyone has information on this family and would help me I would appreciate it very much.

Have been trying to gather information on Auguste Mouton b. about 1835. I have been told that he had been married more then once. I do know that between 1885 ant 1894 he was (married to?/) with Celestine LaBauve. They lived in Vermillion Parish (Abbeville/Kaplan/Maurice) and in Cameron Parish (Grand Chanier). Their children were; Marie Olivia (Olivia) b. about 1886; Alexandre (Alexander) b. 1888; CArmezille (Carmen) b. 1891; Euphrasie (Phrasie) b. 1883 and Medard (Mayo/ Maya) b. 1894. The older children were christened at St. Mary Magdalen CC in Abbeville. Medard (Mayo) was christened at St Alphonsus CC in Maurice. Any information botained would be most appreciated.
