I have info that shows my greatgrandfather was a Charles Jackson Moye born 1868 in Franklin, KY to George Moye. Now I'm at a deadend... any help out there?

My records show that Charles Jackson Moye married Mary E Page in 1888. Do you have details of their children?

He was the son of George Atkins Moye (1821 - 1897) and Louisa J Boren, who married in 1848 in Sumner Co., TN and later moved to KY. They had 9 children. George Atkins Moye was the son of Edmond H Moye (1797 - 1884) who was born in Craven Co., NC, and Elizabeth Barber, whom he married in 1821. They had 12 children. Edmond H Moye was the son of Marmaduke Moye of Craven Co. (1772 - 1843) who was the son of John Moye IV, grandson of John Moye III, great grandson of John Moye Jr and great great grandson of the original immigrant, John Moye from England (1610 - 1645). Do you need anything more?

My g-grandfather was John Wallace Moye, son of George Atkins Moye and Lousia J. Boren. He was born 1858 in Kentucky and migrated to Fannin Co. Tx where he married Laura Ann Brown in 1883. They had 4 children. Seeking death place and date for John Wallace Moye and info on his siblings.

For Marmaduke I have Mary Ann (Polly) Carlton as his second wife, mother of Elijah, but I do not have a name for his first wife, mother of Catherine, Edward and Elizabeth. For John Jr. I have Jane or Jean Moore. For John III I have the name Avis but with a query against it. For John IV I have Elizabeth.

Thanks for your help. Is it your consensus that the Edward Moye listed as son of Marmaduke is Edmond H. Moye? I have a marriage date for Marmaduke Moye and Polly Carlton as 3 Dec. 1823, Craven Co. NC, Record 02252, Bondsman: William Smith, Wit: J. G. Stanly. Estimated birth for Elijah is 1805, so perhaps Polly was not the mother of any of Marmaduke's children?

These Moyes are very confusing to me.

LuAnn: Yes, I agree that Marmaduke's son is almost certainly Edmond H Moye. I have retained the name Edward, which was from my original source, just for the record.
I also agree with the 1823 date for Polly Carlton's marriage to Marmaduke as that was the date of the marriage bond. Once again, my original source gave 1805 and I have retained it merely for the record. In that case, Elijah will have been the child of Marmaduke's first wife.

Thanks, John. I have found Edmond also spelled Edmund. Sure makes it hard when researching. Marmaduke's first wife may have been Mary Unknown. Sure wish I could find some maiden names!!
