grandfather's family. My grandfather is
William Andrew Moye born in Greenville,N,C
in 1910. His mother's name is Carrie. There
are other siblings. I want to find
information on his father and any
information on Carrie. This is an African-American family. Thankyou.

There are two William Moye in my family from Greenville, NC
although neithers mother's name was Carrie. I
will check some census records in Pitt County to
see if another William Moye is there. Do you have any dates
of birth, etc., that might help narrow the search? You might also

My father was born in l929 in Wilson, N. C. to Willie Rose Moye and Emma Mozingo Moye. He had a sister Grace and a brother Elbert. Willie Moye divorced and remarried a Grace Moye

There is a Grace Moye who lives in Pearisburg, VA. I don't know any more than that.

I noticed in your message you mentioned that you had access to Pitt Co. records. I'm trying to gather information on my Grgrgrgrandfather William E. MOYE born 1824 Pitt Co. NC married Nicey MANNING who was also born in Pitt Co. on 11 Apr 1827 Do you have any information that might help me out?

William E Moye, who married Nicey Manning in 1848 and had 8 children, was the son of John Cass Moye and Alice Brown. They had 8 other children. John Cass Moye's father was George Moye, who also had a large family with Fanny Dubberley. George was the son of John Moye IV, who goes back to the original immigrant from England to Virginia, John Moye, born 1610, died 1645. Do you need anything more?

Iler: Yes, the William Denmark who married the two Moye sisters, Mary then Anna, seems to have been a bit of a scoundrel as he was apparently still married to Mary in NC while living with Anna in GA. According to the IGI (International Genealogical Index) the sisters may have been born in Ireland. Mary had 5 Denmark children and Anna had 11.

The IGI also shows a Mourning Moye born in Ireland about 1743 who married a William Denmark.

My wife's 3rd great grandfather was William Wylie Moye, born Abt. 1771 "in North Carolina of French Parentage. His parents died when he was a mere youth. In early manhood, he moved to Washington Co., GA.Later, he moved to Clinton Co., Ga." "The History of Lamar Co; 1825-1932." The family then moved to Barnesville, Monroe (now Lamar Coo., Ga where descendants can be found today. He married Katurah Hill "Kitty" Peddy in 1813; her father,Jeremiah Peddy, was a Revolutionary War veteran. William Wylie Moye died 1850-60 in Monroe Co., GA

We had been able to find no information about the earlier Moye ancestry until I found your message on Google. Can you tie him into your data base or provide any additional information? It would be greatly appreciated.
