Missing in 1881, Henry Muddock, address know for 1876 & 1889

I have a Henry Muddock who was living in 6 George Street, Islington in 1876 (from sons DC). He died in 40 Landseer Road, Islington on 1889. His wife was Eliza and was living when he died.
I can not find him in the 1881 census at all. Any ideas? Perhaps I need to do a full street search of the census using the above 2 addresses if I can find the RG nr.
Any other ideas?
