I am searching for anything on the family of my 5th grt. grandfather James MOODY (possibly originally spelled MUDIE or Moodie) who was born c1750 but perhaps as early as c1730 who came from ???? to North America.
The first record I have of his existence in No. America is a Marriage record from Buxton, York Co., Maine Jan. 1774 to my 5th grt. grandmother Elizabeth DONALD (also seen spelled Donnell / Dunnell in York Co., ME).
The next time I find James MOODY is July 1784 in Nova Scotia, Canada marrying his 2nd wife Sarah BAKER.
They lived in Annapolis Co., NS (near or in Annapolis, Granville or Wilmot).
That is the only time I find any record of my James MOODY.
I am guessing he was a Sea going man, probably fisherman etc. as most of my Moody family was.
If anyone has any information of any MOODY's coming to No. America around this time who seem to fit this category, I would be Most interested.
Also there is a possibility that James MOODY was a Loyalist and may have had a Land Grant in Nova Scotia.
If there are any Land Records that anyone in Nova Scotia has access to, I sure would appreciate a look up.
His last name might be spelled MOODY, MUDIE or MOODIE.
Thank you very much for any help.
