Patrick Mulcahy married Anna Elizabeth Hartford
And had my ggrandfather Walter Hartford Mulcahy (b. 1883 in Brooklyn NY)
I'm sure they had several other children. According to the 1880 census (if I have the right Pat and Ann) there children were....

John 7
James 5
William 3
and Kate 3 months.

Does any of this ring any bells for anyone?

Thanks!
Jenny
Mulcahy From Tournafulla, County Limerick

I just discovered the names of my great-grandfather's (Denis Ward) parents - John P. Ward and Ellen Mulcahy of Tournafulla, County Limerick.

I have been researching my Ward family history for some time but did not previously know of the Mulcahy connection.

If anyone has Mulcahy ancestors from Tournafulla I would appreciate it if you would contact me to see where we may have a connection.

I know that John P. Ward and Ellen Mulcahy had at least 6 children - Patrick, Denis, Thomas, Martin, Cornelius and Johanna. Denis (my great-grandfather) came to San Francisco in 1887. Cornelius went to Chicago.

The 1901 Irish Census shows that John P. Ward was still alive but Ellen Mulcahy was dead. Patrick and Johanna were still living on the farm. (Patrick was married).

The 1911 Irish Census only lists Patrick and his wife.

I hope to hear from new found Mulcahy cousins.

Timothy Mulcahy- Herbertstown, Co. Limerick

I am seeking information on my MULCAHY and McGRATH ancestors from County Limerick. One of my leads is a letter dated 1914 referring to a Timothy MULCAHY then living in Herbertstown, County Limerick. I suspect that this individual was a cousin to my ggfather, William McGRATH (b.1843 IRE, d.1920 USA), via Williams' mother Mary MULCAHY. Any information regarding Timothy MULCAHY would be greatly appreciated.

Mulcahy - PA (Johnstown, Pittsburgh, Central City)

Hi. After a lot of digging, I have finally uncovered a long lost branch of my family tree. I am trying to locate living relatives of the following folks:

Francis J. Mulcahy - born in Ireland 2 Dec 1897 and died 15 Feb 1967 in Johnstown PA. His parents were Patrick and Ellen (McNamara) Mulchy (note different spelling.) He married twice. His first wife died 4 Jun 1954. They had two children:

Virginia Mulcahy Trexler (husband Paul A. Trexler)- in 1981, these folks were living in Johnstown.)

Robert P. Mulcahy (wife Elizabeth Mastrolembo) - in 1981, these folks were living in Central City, PA.

Francis then remarried 25 Jun 1955 to:

Elizabeth "Betty" (Sullivan) Mulcahy born 23 Feb 1901 in Youngstown PA, died 13 Fed 1981 in Pittsburgh, PA. her parents were Timothy J. and Julia McCarthy Sullivan.
Elizabeth was blind and was the first person in Johnstown to own a "Seeing Eye" dog. I believe one of her dogs was named "Anne." She had three brothers and two sisters (Tim Jr., James, John, Nell, and Alice(Jones)) that all died relatively young.

If any of these people sound familiar, please contact me.

Thanks.
Joann

Michael Mulcahy b1863-1880 Cork Ireland - Died Boston Mass USA

Hi List, I am searching for any details of Michael Mulcahy from Co Cork Ireland, who was born between 1863 and 1880 to Matthew Mulcahy and Mary Lyons. (They were married Nov 1862 in Whitechurch Co Cork). His siblings were Jeremiah 1865, Thomas 1867, Denis 1872, John 1879 and an name unknown sister.

I have no idea as to when he went to the USA but have been told that he lived his life there in Boston Ma. I have been told that he married a lady in the USA who died and he then married her sister, she also died. He then returned to Ireland and met another lady there, married her and took her back to Boston.

His sister is supposed to have travelled over to the USA too, though I do not know her name.

The only confirmed place and date that I think I can locate him at is at the wedding of his brother Denis 29 Sep 1894, there is a Michael Mulcahy as a witness. Denis was 22, I am presuming that Michael would have to be older than 21 to be a witness and to have been married. (This would then narrow his birth dates to 1863-1873 if correct). It would also give him the opportunity to have returned to Cork to marry the third wife.

Presuming he used the Irish naming tradition, he would have a son called Matthew and if multiple male children one called Jeremiah after his eldest Brother.

If anyone has any link I would be most grateful to hear from you.

Matt Falvey
Perth W Australia

My grandfather, William Frederick Mulcahy, b. 12 Mar 1915, Dane, Dane, Wisconsin, moved to California. I have no contact to the Mulcahys in that area. Looking for relatives to continue work on the Mulcahy line. His father was Stephen Elias Mulcahy b. 10 Feb 1875, Dane, Dane, Wisconsin. His mother was Helen Elizabeth Cross b.16 Feb 1895, Winthrop, Buchanan, Iowa. I have Helen's parents information, but nothing after that. As for Stephen's parents, I only have his father's name, Dennis Mulcahy, nothing on his mother. Do these names sound familiar to anyone? Please help. Thanks.

John Mulcahy/ Delia Trihy married in New York late 1890's or early 1900's

John Mulcahy was born in Cappoquin, Waterford, Ireland, Feb 14, 1864. His parents were John Mulcahy and Johanna Fitzgerald. He came to America in his twenties, we believe. He died on nov.10, 1927, when his cab? went off the pier into the east river. In the 1920 census he resided at 233 East 122 St, Manhattan, with his wife, Delia, and his children, Margaret 17, Josephine 15, Thomas, 13, and John 10. Besides being a chauffer he also owned a bar. He purchased a plot from Calvary cemetery on Nov. 20, 1899. At that time he resided at 667-9th Ave. in Manhattan. Some time after his death, the 1930 census shows that the family moved to Jackson heights. There are a number of Thrihy’s located in Brooklyn and they worked for the New York City Fire Department. One Thomas Trihy, born in Clashmore, County Waterford, Ireland, died on April 8, 1931, and lived at 485 Pacific Street, Brooklyn. Recorded in the Brooklyn Standard Union, mass at St. Agnes, and interment at Calvary Cemetery under the direction W. A Martin, 764 Washington Ave. Mrs. Delia Mulcahy is mentioned as one of the sisters.
we are trying to find the date and the parish they were married in. so far we are "bumping up against the wall", as they say. This information is imperative so Thomas Mulcahy, the grandson, can apply for his Irish Citizenship. Thomas was in a plane crash that landed in The Everglades, Florida, years ago, and suffers from organic brain trauma from that incident that has now manifested itself. He would like to travel to Ireland since he does not know how much time he has left. Any information on the church where John Mulcahy and Delia Trihy were married would be greatly appreciated. We have already inquired at a number of funeral parlors, and have learned that their records do not go back that far, have contacted Calvary cemetery, a number of churches and the archives of The New York Archdiocese. Thank you. God bless.
I'm trying to follow a line of William Mulcahys backwards across the ocean.
The first one in the US came over, probably into Baltimore
around 1850 (William Virginius Mulcahy d.12/25/1890). That would place his birth around 1830.
Family rumor he was from Cork. Married Ellen Dessel.
They had at least one child, William Andrew Mulcahy b.10/13/1866 who married Clara Young.
They had as many as 10 children. Most stayed in Maryland. If any of this sounds familiar, write back to Kpeeling@rocketmail.com

Is any one researching a Mulcahy family from Sandsuky, Ohio?? Looking for decendants of Mary Maxwell Mulcahy (second marriage surname Glancy) and Michael (?) Mulcahy from the Sandusky area of Ohio. Believe that there was a son Daniel, born circa 1894, who married an Edith/Ethel. Would love any information on this family. Mary Maxwell Mulcahy's parents were Michael Maxwell and Margaret Fitzpatrick. Both born Ireland, died Sandusky, Ohio.

I believe my great grandmother Ann Skelley of Essex NJ might be the daughter a Bridget Mulcahy who would be the sister of my great great grandfather William Mulcahy of Manhattan NY. The family stories claim Ann Skelley married her first cousin Daniel Mulcahy, William's son. There is a 1920 census report in Essex NJ for a Michael Skelley and his sisters Margaret and Theresa. I know Ann is their sister. Ann died very soon after giving birth to my grandfather William in 1900. If I could find anything showing that Michael Skelley's mother was a Mulcahy I think I would have my link. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Sorry for the earlier error. Patrick Alice Mulcahy ,to my knowledge, never left Co. Tipperary, Ireland but their son John Mulcahy (b.1826) did. He married Mary Byron of Tipperary Town, either in Ireland or USA. John and Mary Mulcahy settled in Woonsocket RI in the 1840 50's. and had several children - James Patrick (my grandfather), John J. Augustus, Mary, Elizabeth and Ellen. Oral history claims they were related (cousins) of the Cody's (Wild Bill) and possible the Reagans (the former US President) but I cannot verify this.

John Mulchay of Ardfinnan, Co Tip married Mary Dorney on 16 May 1846 Ardfinnan, Ireland. She was daughter of Edmund Dorney and Johanna English. the only issue I know about is a daughter b. 1850 in Ohio, as the family is on the Butler Co., Ohio 1850 census, living near her father, Edmund and also with them are Michael Murphy 58, Bridget Murphy 50, Martin Murphy 19, and Mary Murphy 17. I do not know if there are family connections to the Murphy family...not on the Dorney side but maybe on the Mulcahy side. Another problem in locating the family is the corruption of the Mulcahy name.....on this census it is spelled Malkeny.....One wonders if the corrupted spelling was kept or changed back later. I have not located this family in later censuses. However by mid 1860's Edmund and many of the close lrish group of this area moved to Missouri to the Grundy, Livingston and Harrison counties area. Maybe Edmund's daughter and husband did also???

Parents of Catherine Sullivan b1833 d 1908, supposed to be John Sheehy and Mary Hurley. However, 1870 census, Madison co, OH lists Mary MULCAHY as living with her daughter. Several other Mulcahys (both men and women) in the Madison co OH area could be children of this Mary Mulcahy. Interested in connections to other Mulcahy or Sheehy families in Madison, Clark or Champaign cos in OH in the mid 1850s. Thanks.

Mary Agnes Mulcahy - Waterford and County Cork

I have recently found out some new and updated information so I'm looking for anyone who is related to Mary Agnes Mulcahy Nevin. Here is the bit of information that I do know. She was from County Cork and Waterford. She was born on March 10, 1885. Her siblings were twins, Margaret Mulcahy McKenna Daniels and Patrick Mulcahy(I think that's his name.) Mary Agnes (Minnie) , Margaret and Patrick's father (my great-grandfather) was crushed while unloading a tombstone in a graveyard. Her mother remarried. Mary Agnes had a step-brother that she never saw again after she moved to the USA. He eventually moved to New York but died there without ever seeing her again. Mary Agnes left Ireland in 1904 at the age of 19, and sailed to New York. She went to Boston to live and work with her Aunt Mary who worked for a rich woman. My mother remembered playing in their kitchen at least till the age of 5. She met and married Robert Nevin there. He was born in September, 1886. My grandmother was older than he was. He was a florist and came here to work with his cousin who was a florist in Boston. My grandparents had six children, my mother, Margaret Frances Nevin Asher of Annapolis and Charlotte Hall, Maryland, USA, and Robert, James, Thomas, Johnny and Sammy Nevin. My mother was named after my grandparents sister, both of whom were named Margaret. Not their parents. My grandfather was a Protestant from Belfast, not Dublin, and my Grandmother was a Catholic.

I have heard that he was a Monsignor in the Roman Catholic Church, and that he had studied in
Rome at one time. I believe tht he was an
uncle or a great uncle of my mother, Mary
Leonilla Gable (Paquin), who lived in Flint,
Mi. as a child. Her mother was Margaret (Maggie Mulcahy Gable. My mother attended St. Michael's School and Church there. I also am looking for information on the building of St. Michael's
Church (the old one), which I understand
my mother's father, JAMES MARTIN GABLE, was
involved in building.

I would appreciate any tips available.

James or Andrew Mulcahy

I'm looking for information on James Mulcahy of Roxboro Rd in Limerick - He raised my gr. Grandfather Andrew William Mulcahy who was born in Dublin in 1859. His father died and his mother remarried and her whereabouts were unknown. Andrew left for New York in 1878 and he may have had sisters who married and moved to Australia. Because of a storm his ship docked at Quebec City on the St Lawrence River. Andrew Joined the Canadian Army, married Harriet McIntyre in Quebec City and was posted eventually to Victoria BC, Canada. Any connections to your Mulcahy history? Thanks for any info you might have. Sheila

"birth mother" mulcahy

Hi, I'm searching for my birth mother and one of the few details I know is that she her surname was/is "Mulcahy". My birth date is 7/12/1970, and I was born in Cleveland, OH. I also know she was a teacher, originally from Michigan. While I certainly respect her privacy and any desire she has to remain anonymous, I desparately want to learn more about my biological past and also, I feel like maybe she's out there wondering about me too. If anyone has information or leads for me please share! My home address is 823 West Valerio St., Santa Barbara, CA 93101 and my home telephone number is (805) 898-9717. Also, my work telephone number is (805) 966-7272, ext. 14. Thanks,
Jay

Margaret Mary Mulcah(e)y

She is my maternal great, great grandmother. She came to Canada in 1849 according to the 1901 Canadian Census. She listed her birthdate as May 3, 1827 in that same census.

She married Martin Michael Murphy either before emigrating from Ireland or after arriving in Canada.

I found them both in Brantford Ontario in the 1861 Census. At the time they had three children born somewhere in what is now Ontario - 1857 Anna, 1858 Michael and 1860 Thomas. After that my great grandmother was born in Brantford in 1863 - Margaret Mary. Some time after this census I found baptismal records in St. Mary's R.C. Church in Toronto, Ontario. Agnes, Martin, Mary and Elizabeth were born and/or baptized in this church.

Martin Michael was a labourer on the R. R. as were so many Irish immigrants in those years. The Irish built the eastern part of the Canadian R. R. system as well as the canals. The Chinese built the western half of the Canadian R. R. system.

I don't know their county of origin.

If any of these names mean anything or seem to fit into someone's family genealogy, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

Shaaron (Canada)

I am trying to find the children/grandchildren of James and John who immigrated around the turn of the century from Cork...possibly another brother, Matthew...came together, separated, one went to Montana, settled in New Hampshire, the other to California, maybe via Montana? Possibly San Francisco...father was Edmund, Mother Kate O'Connell, from near Ladys Bridge or Ballymacoda/Midleton or Youghal in Ireland, born probably 1870-72...if any of this sounds familiar at all, PLEASE let me know, ERUSH@webtv.net.
