I am searching for information on Winifred Muldoon and her parents, however I don not know their names. Winifred Muldoon was born in 1845 in Legan, Co. Longford, Ireland. She came to Argentina and lived in Salto, province of Buenos Aires. Married to William Mc Loughlin, born in 1835 (?) in Ireland. She was listed in the 1895 census in Salto and died Aug 10,1895 in Salto.

Thanks
Dear Bernard,
Thank you for replying to my message.
My husband Jeff knows you.
Helen Muldoon was my mother in law.
Helen would say you had already researched the Muldoons but putting the tree together is much work.As a result,I have a little.I have one photo of the Muldoon men with one sister in it but that is all.
Helen was keen for me to research the Busch and McGuckin side(her Mum) as she didn't know anything of them.
I have completed the Busch side and would love the Muldoon side.
I would like to trace the family tree or have a copy of it as I think it is really important for my children to know of their parents and family history.
We live in Melbourne so getting to northern N.S.W only happens once a year.
Regards,Cathy Busch.

Thank you for responding. Not sure if James and Patrick are related but I appreciate this information. James was born in Ireland and his father's name was Patrick. My James was born in 1829, your Patrick in 1823 so they could be brothers. James also had a son named Patrick. I'll keep digging and hopefully the information you've given me will help connect the dots. Again - thanks for your time!!

I have information on the descendants of Patrick Muldoon, who immigrated from Ireland and the Muldoon family grew quite large in the Carleton area of Ontario (think 'Ottawa').

Here is a starting point:
Patrick Muldoon was born in 1823 in Tipperary Ireland and died 22 Aug 1898 in Torbolton, Carelton, Ontario. I do not know of his parents or siblings. He married Hanorah O'Meara (often spelled differently - as Hanna, Hanara, Hanorah... and last name sometimes Omara). Together they had 2 children: Patrick Dennis Muldoon b. 1855 and Joseph Richard Muldoon b. 1863.

Should any of these strike a connection, I'd be pleased to share more.

Found it. Copying here. My original email and his responses.

I am writing to you as part of my ongoing search.

I am a genealogist for my family. With many branches all over the place. As I was doing a quick search on the Internet for Muldoons I found you.

I am a misplaced Muldoon. Grins. Well let me explain.

My g-grandmother was Margaret Muldoon. She was born in 1872 in Philadelphia. She had 7 brother/sisters. Her mother was Sarah Jane O'Neill and father was James Muldoon.

James was born about 1850 in and around the Cookstown area. We believe it was Eglish/Armagh/Cookstown area. Our O'Neill side still is around there and we have made contact with many of them. Some here and some there. They live on Gort Road. The Corrs/McIvors/O'Neills/Devlins/McKees are more of the different families. My mother and aunt just went over there about 2 months ago and got some more information on that side.

But my Muldoons have been elusive. I cannot find anyone that knows anything about James Muldoon. About a year ago I had gotten an e-mail from a Chris Muldoon who lived in Lissan parish. But when I tried to respond to him his email was gone. It was a work email. He noted his father knew some things about the family. Actually he stated that his father was 'a keen minded history explorer' . grins.

So that is my reason for contacting you. First to saw Wow. lol. Pulitzer. Must be a Muldoon thing. Both myself and my brother and a couple cousins all write a little bit of poetry. I do read quite a bit and haven't been in the poetry section in a bit. I will have to snag one and do some reading.

And the other is to see if you know anything about your Muldoons or can point me in the right direction. Well let me know if you can help me. Quite possibly we are cousins in some manner. Especially since that is the same area you are from.

Pauls response -

Dear Edward, All Muldoons are misplaced, surely. Ours were from the Killeshill, Tullyallen, Ackinduff area of County Tyrone. I don't know much about names, alas, except that they were all called James, Hugh, or Paddy, or sometimes, Hugh, Paddy, or James. Does that help? Paul

My response

Kinda. It lets me know some more of the family names. Do you have any contacts over there that are Muldoons that might be able to help me?

Pauls response
Dear Ed, You might want to be in touch with an antiques dealer in Aughnacloy by the name of James Muldoon. Paul
Yes. Out of all my families that I have been searching for the muldoons have been the most elusive. Well I have a Todd that I can't explain either.

So in my quest I had seen something by Paul Muldoon and sent him an email. I was just lookin for the emails and I do not see them. It was quite a few years ago. He had told me about this antique dealer who might have info. I thought I had sent the letter and must not have. I found it the other day.. but of course not sure where it went ;P

Ed

Have you run across a Miles Muldoon in Philadelphia? There were two, probably father and son; both arrived in PA in mid 1850s. Elder born abt 1798; younger born abt 1838. Younger Miles served in the Massachusetts 20th infantry during the civil war. His military record lists his address in 1861 as Brighton MA but the age matches the Miles who lived in Philly in 1860 census. Since my ancestors were the only Muldoons in Brighton in 1860, I am wondering whether the two families were related. Elder Miles would have been the right age to be a brother of my GGG grandfather Thomas b. 1796 in Dublin, arrived NYC Jan 1849.

Was just speaking to Mum, but she can't remember much, as she was brought up in Liverpool & only went to Tyrone during the summer holidays.

Take a look at this site - gold mine!

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cotyroneir....

Also if you google John Muldoon K.C.,M.P. you might find more. I found a pic (not a good one though)of him at Dromore News.
John Muldoon was very influential in Land treaties, basically obtaining the land back from those who confiscated it. He would have also been involved in the Land March. A nationalist protest held in Dromore against the landed gentry, this has been dsecribed as Dromore most crowded day with well over 10 thousand people marching and others protesting at the marches. There is even a housing estate in Dromore called Muldoon Park after John Muldoon.

So what time is it there now? I'm just down the road from Greenwich (GMT) if that helps.

I had gotten an email a few years ago from a Muldoon in Tyrone who said his father knew some.. but when I tried to email him it was sent back.

I also made contact with a Paul Muldoon who is a poet who teaches at Princeton University.
My Muldoon James is my block right now. He came to America and according to the information from the folks in Ireland, Sarah O'Neill followed him. They were married in the states. I am still trying to find the marriage info.

I do not have any of his siblings, nor do I have his parents. Your James fits as my James's father... but nothing to coroborate that.

All I know is that Sarah O'Neill was from Cookstown where the O'neill house still stands. So James would have had to have been living close by..

Ed
