I just saw your message. I, too, am related to the great Lucille Mulhall. Her Father's name was Zack Mulhall. Mulhall, OK was named after them -- from my research they owned approx. 80K acres in that area. Yes, it was President Teddy Roosevelt who was friends with and frequent guests of the Mulhall family at their ranch. Col. Zack (an honorary title, I'm told) was a fellow "Rough Rider" with T.R.
I was able to obtain a lot of valuable information, newspaper articles, photos and such from the archives of the Natl. Cowboy Hall of Fame in OKC. (I was in the basement archives when the tornado went through Moore a couple of years ago.) I also have several "cowgirl" books which make reference to and/or have photos.
From my research, the Mulhalls had a 'rodeo show' and 'rodeo ranch' like the Miller 101. The Mulhalls were Grand Marshalls in the inaugurational parade, if not twice, for T.R. -- once when he was Vice. Lucille was a friend of Will Rogers and Geronimo. There is even a tale that Lucille roped a coyote running wild on their ranch and it impressed T.R. so much he had it sent back to Washington, D.C. and as the story goes, it was stuffed, mounted and put in the White House.
I would like to here from you. Please e-mail me.
