Hello,
I have seen two user submitted trees on Ancestry World Tree with misinformation on William Brindle and Mary Chadwick. Wm Brindle is my gr gr uncle. The information posted states Wm married Mary Chadwick in Preston, Lancashire in 1864. This is incorrect.
In fact he married her on OCT 18, 1884 in Cranston, Rhode Island. I have the marriage cert. This was th FIRST marriage of William and the SECOND marriage of Mary Chadwick..
Wm was the son of Ellen (Moulding) Brindle and Evan Brindle, although the father is not listed on his birth certificate. However Evan is the father of Ellen's other children. The marriage cert of Wm Brindle and Mary Chadwick states Wm's parents as Evan Brindlell and Ellen Modin (Moulding). Mary Chadwick's parents are Henry Chadwick and Mary Harwood.
The info on the online tree states Wm is the father of Elizabeth Brindle Mulhall, however she was born BEFORE the marriage of Wm and Mary Chadwick. On Wm's death cert from RI, Elizabeth is listed as friend.
Wm was single and living as a boarder in Church, Lancashire, England on the 1871 census and came to the US in the early 1880's. (The rest of his family arrived in 1883). Wm is not found on the 1881 UK census.
According to the 1900 US Cranston census he was living alone although it states he had been married for 15 yeas (this would confirm his marriage to Mary Chadwick in 1884). The children stated in the online tree were all born BEFORE 1884.
I would love to be in touch with the submitter of these trees to find out more. Perhaps we could figure this all out. If you see this posting, pleas contact me.
Thanks,
Pat Brindle Jones
