Re: my NA ancestry--my gg grandfather, Robert Gage, was born in NC in 1833. Believe he was 1/2 Cherokee but unsure if mother or father was full-blood. Many whites/NA intermarried in those days and the Native connection has been almost impossible for me to trace. Robert's mother Sarah was born in Tennessee or just over the border in SC but lived most of her adult life in Caesar's hHead SC.

Any info on the family (Tillery/Gage ) with relation to NA connection most appreciated.
Catherine

Hello,Orti/Mull. I still have not broken the code to finding if I have Native American Ancestry. It would be interesting to know what you did find out about your heritage-who was supposed to be Native American, , where they lived in NC/SC etc.

Lynn,
My Mull ancesters came through Lancaster to SW Ohio too, then into Indiana, but I don't find Reuben or Abraham. There must be a connection though. The Mull book has lots of Mulls who went south to NC. My family was not in it. David Mull was the common ancestor in my line who came from Germany. Other names are: George Mull, Frederick Mull, William Mull.

Hello,
I read your old posting from 2001 and looked on my own chart and found an Abraham Van Valkenburgh of Kinderhook, N.Y. married to a Catalyntje Schermerhorn b. 1683.
I am interested in knowing more about your Mull family bible entries as you say it mentions Gerritie Schermerhorn and I wondered how far back your bible dates go.
I also am interested in finding out more about a Dorothy Van Valkenburgh of Catskill, N.Y. who married Edwin Hocmer Jr. b. July 14, 1896 ; he died young abt age 30 ish and she later remarried and had children with someone else. I would love to know more about her. She was a beauty. I have her photo so thought you may be interested in knowing more about her due to your Van Valkenburgh line. Thank you so much. Elizabeth Lansing, 3rd gr. grand-dau. to Harriet Schermerhorn and George Lansing b. abt 1807. I am related to Edwin Hocmer through his mother Nellie Durkee Hocmer who was my great grandmother's sister. Edwin Hocmer m.
Henry Susannah Gemima Mull Burke Cty NC

Hi,
I'm trying to determine if the Mull/Brittain family tree is where my Brittain family comes from.

I have records that show that my 3rd great grandfathers mother, was Gemima Brittain. they were from Burke Cty, NC.

I've found references to 3 Gemima Brittains. 1 was born way too early, around 1775-1780. Another was Gemima Mull, daughter of Henry & Susannah Mull, who was born about 1800 and married Henry Brittain. The 3rd Gemima Brittain, was born about 1813 and the only hint to a potential spouse/partner is a connection to a Robert Tate.

Does anyone have information on the Gemima Mull, so that I can either include or exclude her as a possibility?

Whichever of these Gemima's that is my 4th great grandmother.. her son was John Quincy Brittain.

thanks for any help

Edward MULL married Keziah Gooby, 22 JUNE 1879, Ionia Co., Ionia MI. Baptist minister was Thomas Robinson. Ed's father, as I have it, was Thomas. Mother unknown. Died 7 August 1933, in Michigan.

Toni, if you go to Lansing, check Ed's birth record and it should list his parent's names. City directories, church records and enrollments, etc. Send what you find, if you would be so kind! My grandpa, Clyde, had a book with all the known MULLs from the 70's I think. I believe I have it, but need to dig for it.

This is Scott, your cousin in Vegas, btw...lol

scott @ DesignsAtWork.com

I have sent away for some other records and his ages on these documents, let alone birth year are stated much differently on each of these. Edward was married like 3-4 times total!

Please email me at:: toni521@comcast.net

Mull age 27 Keeping house, born in MO.

In 1910 he is listed with his wife Sarah J. and 5 children (let me know if you need this and I will get it for you).

1920 listed again withe wife Sarah J. and 3 children, there appears to be one new one (again let me know if you need this).

1930 he is listed once more with Wife Sarah J, four children and one grandson (let me know if you need this)

in 1860 they are listed as
Home in 1860: St Louis Ward 6, St Louis (Independent City), Missouri
Name: Eliza J Mull
Age in 1860: 21
Birth Year: abt 1839
Birthplace: Missouri
and
Name: Wm Mull
Age in 1860: 33
Birth Year: abt 1827
Birthplace: Indiana

This would be my guess at marriage information based on what we do know, your best would be to order the record to verify as much as you can and it will likely have their parents names on it. Note his name si not John William here.

St. Louis, Missouri Marriages, 1804-76
Name: Eliza Jane Taylor
Spouse: William L Mull
Marriage Date: 12 Mar 1861
Volume/Page: 10-266

There is a John Mull born in Ireland age 25 in the 1850 census that could also be him he is the only one in 1850 Missouri, and he is in St Louis (Independent City).

Sorry I don't see anything else that would be helpful, and from what you supplied you likely have most of this.

Liesa

Re: Mull- Native american ancestry help

I believe the Hannah Mull living with Benedict and his 2nd wife,Sarah Gunter(1850 Union County,IL Census)is the daughter of Daniel Mull and his 1st wife Susan Treese. Daniel is the son of Benedict and 1st wife Hannah Pless.
Daniel b. Dec 26 1810 Rowan Co. NC, baptized June 7 1810 Organ Luthern Church, Rowan Co.
m. Susan Treese 15 Dec 1835 Union Co, IL
m 2nd. Sarah Mackey 23 Dec 1841 Union Co. IL
Daniel died Dec 1844 according to his probate record Union Co,IL. I do not know if Sarah remarried. She listed 3 in family for specific property in probate. Perhaps she had a child by Daniel and the stepchild Hannah. Hannah's appointed guardian in 1850 was Andrew Deardorf, who was Daniel's nephew.
I am not related to this family, but have accumulated info while researching Hileman family. Elizabeth Mull, sister of Daniel married a Hileman.
There is no known native american ancestry in the Mull, Pless, or Treese families of Union County.

I haven't been able to connect your John Mull to my tree. However, I suspect there is a connection since my family came to Indiana through PA,OH. There were many John Mulls which makes it confusing. You can look at my Mull & Kuhn family tree on Ancestry.com. If I find a connection, you will find it added there. I would welcome any other Mull info you wish to share.

John Mull of Berks County PA, c. 1866-1901

I have a man in my family tree named John Mull (b. 18 Oct 1866 - d. 25 Dec 1901)

He was married to woman named Margaret(Daisy)Clouser in 1892. She was from Perry Co. Pa. but they moved to Philadelphia. She was only about 16 when they married. He died in Philadelphia in 1901 - widowing Daisy at age 23.

He was buried in the Charles Evans Cemetery in Reading. From what I have been able to learn, he was buried with a woman named Elvina Mull Pickens, her husband Robert and their son, James. (These three are a family as verified in the 1880 US Census.) Elvina, in 1900, is living as widow with her widowed mother, 90 yr old, Susannah Mull (Moll).
Susannah had 13 children, 3 of which were living in 1900, all living with her at the time.

I suspect that John Mull was a nephew of Elvina's and thus a grandson of Susannah Mull's. Susannah had at least four sons, Christopher, Horace, Jefferson, and Daniel. Jefferson was single and never married in 1900, so one of the other sons was likely John's father.

Do any of these folks sound familiar to anyone?

wow ! would you be able to look for a birth record for Mary Mull (b) 1841 ? i haven't been to Hillsdale library for maybe 15 years. Do they have birth records back that far in time? (court house)
do they allow looking up of birth records? (that's 167 years ago) some places will allow it if it's been more than 100 years.
I am looking on ancestry.com for Bellinger hoping to find Mary Mull Bellinger so i can find out her children's names and maybe get down the line of decendants to find any living relatives that i might contact

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 12 May 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

KLAHOMA MOONSHINERS

A Quartet of Whisky Makers, a Still and Some Spirits Found

Grand: Sheriff Smith returned from Beason, this county, with four moonshiners - Ezra Mull, W. G. Oldaker and two sons. He also located the still, a half barrel of whisky and several gallons on mash. One of the Oldakers was captured after seven shots had been fired by the officer. A fifth member of the gang escaped.

Just how long the still has been in operation is not known, but the supposition is that at different times it has been in operation for months. The sheriff has endeavored for some time to locate the still and get the guilty parties.
My maiden name is Mull. My great grandmother was named Amanda her sister's name was Grace. She had 3 children Eugene, Fred, and Margie. I live in Southern Illinois. The Exwife of Jack(Eugene) did geneology on the Mull family. I can try and find information if you think it might be the Amanda you are looking for. Let me know.
