Can anyone tell me about James A Mullis's civil war record,
He was a fifer in the war. He was born in 1833 and died in 1902 in iredell county North Carolina. he was also a Quaker and helped create Winthrop Friends Meeting in iredell county. James married Mary Ann Myers in Walker county Georgia. They moved to NC sometime prior to 1877.Together they had six children. I think he was in the 1st confed. infantry 2nd company D. I would like more info on this if possible. Thanks James

Lou Ray Cartwright of Harmony, N. C., grandaughter of Jas. A., has letter he wrote during CW telling of his disgust for war/violence. He was son of George Mullies Jr. (1802-1864), grandson of Geo. Sr. (c. 1768-c.1849, Iredell co.). Winthrop Meeting cem. as of 1981 had 1/4 Mullis and also Mullies stones, 1/4 York stones, reminding one of Sergt. York of WWI fame on the other side of Great Smokies. Mullies is a variety of but pronounced same as Mullis
