In the book "History of Walker County, Georgia" it states Shirly Wysong came to Walker County with two Mullis boys from Surrey County, NC. It does not elaborate as to her relationship to these boys, but they are presumed to have been her sons. Their names were William and Wiley. My father, Robert Marvin Mullis was born 7/26/1887 to John Richard Mullis and Martha Snodgrass Mullis in a dwelling on what is now Chickamauga National Military Park. If this is any interest to you I can direct you to my cousin Martha Mullis Willoughby Schug, who is informed on this sort of thing.

They had my brother Denny, my sister Beverly and me. After their divorce (04/1968) Denny and Beverly wanted to stay with Daddy and being I was only two years old I went with my Mom in Palatka.I visited Cross City some when I was younger but was only allowed to stay with my Grandmother. My Mom and Step-Mother (Cecelia) didn't get along. Any way I married Larry O Walton Jr from Crescent City FL and we have two daughters Miranda now 22 and Karey Sue fixing to be 16 this June. Miranda just got married to a Laotion Khansavanh Vorakoune man just this last March they also live here in Crescent City. Thats about all there is to know about me, would love to find out as much about the family I don't know ........... Thanks Karen

Hi Karen, Will do my best to fill in some info for you. Your grandfather(J.W.) was my Dad's brother, so your Dad was my 1st cousin. My name is Linda and I have two sisters. You have two aunts (AlleyLou Corbin and Vonnice Land) living in Old Town, Fl. You also have two uncles Jessie and James) and an aunt (MinnieKate) living in Mayo. There is an aunt (SallieMae Stone) living in Archer. Plus..two aunts (Sheila and Angela) in Orlando, and an uncle (Wayne) in Live Oak. Uncle J.W. (your grandfather) was married three times. There are many, many cousins attached to the above relatives. My Dad's name was Johnny James and he and Uncle J.W. had a sister, Aunt Arzula. There is quite an extensive family of Mullis decendants here in the area and I would like to know more about you and your family. We are gathering info and it is exciting to know about you!
I am trying to find info on my father's side of the tree - my g-g-g-grandfather is George Washington Vickers - my grandfather is Pomeroy Vickers. I had always heard rumors that we had some "Indian" blood - I was told it was Blackfoot Indian. There was always a big joke about it because when I was a little girl, I couldn't understand, that if I was part Blackfoot Indian, then why weren't my feet black? Anyways, I cannot find that Native American link, and am stuck on who was the father of G.W.Vickers. Anyone out there that can help?

Hello Bernice,
There are a ton of Mullises. Start out at www.mullishannapage.com for the story of how the Mullis family started in N.C. and those who migrated to South Georgia. Lydia was part of this group. There is also a web site called the Mullis Melange about the family. I don't know the details of Eli's descendants. I came out of his brother Joel/Joseph's line. There is a Mullis family reunion every August in Dexter, GA. I think there is also a web site at RootsWeb. Suzanne Flowers

Ancestry Of Kary B. Mullis, Nobel Prize Winner?

Hi, I am of Mullis descent on my dad's side of the family. We descend from the Mullis family of Union/Anson counties NC.

I am interested in tracing the ancestry of the famous American scientist Kary Banks Mullis, who won the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his invention of the "Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)" which is used to amplify small amounts of DNA into amounts large enough to test, which has revolutionized the science of DNA testing among many other useful applications.

I know that Dr. Mullis was born on 28 December, 1944, in Lenoir, NC. He grew up (and I believe still has relatives) in Columbia (Richland Co), SC.

Of course I cannot help wondering if this brilliant scientist is related to MY Mullis line, but I would really like to trace Dr. Mullis's line regardless!

Any help greatly appreciated!

My email address is orangeblossom17@gmail.com. Or you can post a reply here, whichever you prefer.

I would also enjoy corresponding with other Mullis researchers!

Thank you very much!!

Sincerely
Patti

He was son of George Mullies Jr. (1802-1864), grandson of Geo. Sr. (c. 1768-c.1849, Iredell co.). Winthrop Meeting cem. as of 1981 had 1/4 Mullis and also Mullies stones, 1/4 York stones, reminding one of Sergt. York of WWI fame on the other side of Great Smokies.
Samuel and Lydia (Mullis) Louden

Hi All - I am researching the line of Samuel C. Louden, son of George and 'Unknown' Louden. Samuel was born about 1805 in Chester, South Carolina and his family moved to Washington County, Indiana when he was still a boy. I just found a posting that Samuel married first Lydia Mullis and had children; then married Zerelda Pro and had children; then married to Sarah Pro, and finally Francis Cordelia Boyce. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I'd be happy to share what I have thus far. Thanks in advance, Sue
sug53@earthlink.net

Do you have any info on Eli, son of Lydia?
I have an affidavit that was written by Jesse Peacock, attesting to the service record of an Eli Mullis of Dodge and Pulaski County Ga. Mr Peacock gave the following info about Eli Mullis: He enlisted in company H at Charlston Tenn in 1862; Mr Mullis was with company until surrender:Mr Mullis
was home on furlow at time of surrender. discharge- Colley Station April 16,> 1865.Command as at Tunell(?) Hill when Mr Mullis went onf furlow after horse?. Jesse Peacock also says that he is second cousin to Eli Mullis. Date May 17, 1911.

No regiment is mentioned, nor can I find an Eli Mullis or Jesse Peacock listed on any roster. Jesse Peacock would be my GG Grandfather.

Bernice

The Mullis Melange Website

posted this on a few Genealogy boards. My passion for genealogy research overrides my common sense sometimes.

Hi folks,

I am the webmaster of http://www.mullismelange.com .

The site is best viewed with high speed internet as dial up seems to be giving people problems on the site. It is a very graphical site as it contains pictures and maps in the database for some folks.

I could give a very long I have a dream speech.....but I will spare you as I probably do it too much already on my website. The genealogy bug bit a few years back and I am on a quest to link all the Mullis' together in my database.

I had the pleasure to have correspondence with Barbara Philemon Parsons Culp a few years back and she was kind enough to send me the Mullis Melange book she wrote. She gave tribute to Floye Mullis Nance in her book who is my wife's aunt (deceased). Even though Barbara was in poor health she enjoyed correspondence with me as I did with her. It was her research that got me addicted to the Mullis' family and I feel that the torch was passed as we both had the same passion.

The last I heard from her she had moved to Indiana I believe (It may have been Ohio). I haven't heard from her since. My web site is named as a tribute to her and I continue to this day slowly typing data into my database from the material in her book. I also correct some errors in her book using documentation and emails to me from family members that let me know the data on the website is not correct.

Some of you know me and some don't. You folks that know me know I am sincere in my research and I am trying to have the best database of Mullis' available to all for free.

I am asking a big favor of all Mullis' family and researchers and I am not too proud to beg......no I'm not going to ask for money :)

If anyone has any gedcoms to donate to the cause please email them to me. It doesn't matter how big or small I will look at all. I have a program that can easily integrate the data into my database.

Here is an example page of my database so you can see how this will help other researchers:

http://mullismelange.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I190&amp...

I am also asking for family picture donations and any documents anyone may want to donate. Keep in mind what I get is free for all to download. I never charge for anyone to use the site.

People will have to log in to the site to see private data. This is to keep spammers and unscrupulous folks out of certain private areas.

This site is there to help everyone out that is researching the Mullis line. Technology has finally gotten us to this point and I am in total awe of it as it is globally connecting all researchers. We Mullis researchers should be no different as we all seek the same. The quest for knowledge (sorry I watched "National Treasure" too many times).

If I add any of the data, pictures, or documents, to the database that you donate you will get full credit as to being the source of information on each individual and you will also be placed on my Forums Wall of Fame as a contributor. I am lacking GA Mullis data. A gedcom of GA Mullis' would be great.

I'm too broke to give any money as the website and subscription to Ancestry.com cost me a few hundred a year to keep up (let alone the countless hours of sleep deprivation)--so that's the best I can do :)

I want to personally and publically give thanks to Jim DeWelt for providing the Nebraska Mullis', Paula Mullis, Donaldson for the Alexander, NC Mullis', and Sam Mullis for his large Mullis database that integrated nicely into my Anson/Union NC Mullis'. Thanks to the sweet ladies on the Mullis email list as they are giving me insight to the Mullis psychological traits :)

If you have no clue how to send a gedcom to me just email me and I will walk you through it. I have with a couple of folks and they surprised themselves on how easy it was.

Scanned documents and pictures can be emailed or snail mailed to me. Just make sure you tell me what/who it is and give me your name, address, etc so I can give proper credit as source info. (Your address will remain private of course--unless you want it posted). People have actually sent me pictures and forgot to say who it was...oops. I tried to be a mind reader once, but it just didn't work for me :)

I know I am being bold in asking such a thing, but I really am sincere in what I do and the site is there as proof.

On a side note, I have not seen any Mullis DNA projects and am thinking about getting this started as well. If I get enough members and documentation for the site I will eventually incorporated as a non profit and the we can have a proper Mullis Family Association, Inc. I don't think there is one is there?

Thanks to all for reading this.
