I haven't done much with the family history for several years. My dad and mother and my wife, went to Scott co. Illinois in 1980. We found where William lived when he first came to Illinois in 1832 and where he lived in Manchester and Glascow. Burton died about a month before William did. Burton and wife, Sarah, had two children, William Albert and Emma. Sarah remarried to George Sharp and they moved from Illinois to Missouri in 1864. I have information on most of the sons of William with the exception of Daniel. I am not sure where he went when he left Ill. Some of them went to Kansas and Oklahoma. If you want to contact me, I live in Bella Vista, Arkansas. My number is 479-855-2548 Hope to hear from you soon. Vance

I would love to share information with you. I have Burton Munday listed as a son of Parmelia and William's but I do not have much else about him. I do have a little about some of his brothers and sisters also. I have 4 sons and 2 dausghters for Parmelia Parr and William. I have 6 sons listed for William and 1st wife Winnie Hood. There are many different spellings for Munday depending on who was recording the name and what generation.

William Munday was my 3rd great grandfather. Burton Munday by William's second wife, Parmelia, is my 2nd great grandfather. My g-grandfather was named William also. The name spelling was changed after he moved to Missouri in the 1860's. I have done a lot of research and have a lot of information on the Munday's. I would be willing to share if you are interested.
I would be interested in the Munday's Landing booklet! Thomas Munday (1780-1833) is my 5th great granduncle. I am descended from Thomas' brother Reuben Munday (1790-1837) and Nancy Broaddus (1792-1880).

In my records, I have a Joyce Chenault (1797-1858), who married (1813) Thomas and Reuben's brother James (1788-1858).

Please let me know how I can go about getting a copy of your book! dorothyvance@yahoo.com

Munday - Dorset, UK

I am trying to trace ancestors of my grandmother BEATRICE MAY MUNDAY (dob 12 July 1905 in Winterborne Tomson, Milton Abbas, Blandford). Her father was THOMAS MUNDAY (a farm carter) and mother was MARY EMMA MUNDAY (formerly HALL). Beatrice's siblings include Walter George (1889-1960), Lilian (1880-?), Elsie (1893-1998), John, Harry and Mary.
I have Beatrice's birth certificate but have no other information at all about her parents, not even a date of birth. Beatrice, Walter and Elsie died in Bournemouth but I have nothing on the other siblings, although Walter appears to have been born in Buckinghamshire and there are family connections with Stafford so they may have moved around. There is suggestion that Mary Emma may have re-married after Thomas's death. I am looking for information on Thomas and Mary Emma as my search has come to a standstill.

Thank you for your response but I was confused and have found out that Reuben Munday was married twice according to his obit. The first time to an Elizabeth (I believe)and then to Nancy Chenualt. My Elizabeth is Bettie on the 1850 Madison KY Census and she is 19 along with Mary who is 17. Bettie later married a James Hockaday McWilliams. Her first child is named Reuben Munday McWilliams. Does anyone know who the Elizabeth(?)is that Reuben Munday was married to first? George Henry Henningsen is my great grandfather and Annie Henningsen's illegimate son. This is where it gets interesting I married into the Metcalf Family and my sister-in-law was William Flinn's first wife. William Flinn is the son on Gwenyth Flinn-Jose (FORMERLY FERNIHOUGH). So I would therefore assume that you know Gwen and her family maybe as well as I do.
Regards
Tanya

Hi Cynthia,
You may already have the information you are seeking with regards to your Wheatley family but shall do this posting as it may help someone else doing the same research later on.

Mashiter Wheatley married 1843 in Stroud, Gloucestershire to Albina (aka Albeni, Albinia) Estcourt. She was christened on the 28 Jan 1821 in Painswick, Gloucestershire to parents Josiah & Susannah Estcourt. She had siblings: Frederick, Ann, Harriet, Henry, Charlotte, George, Jane, Esther Ann, Joseph, Oliver & Selina.

So far I have found children for Mashiter (listed as Mathew in 1851 census) & Alina: Sarah A, Alfred, William, Francis, Arthur, Henry, Charles & Clara.

Son Alfred married Mary Ann Workman in 1867 in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The surname has been listed as Wheally in the 1881 census but eventually I found them. They had children:
Sarah Alice, Florence, Eva, Anne (who is Clara Annie), Frederick W, Albert E and a unnamed son one month old in the 1881 census.

I cannot really help with who Mary Ann Workman's parents were but it looks like her and her brother Alfred might be the two little children aged 8 (Alfred) and 6 (Mary) Workman in the stroud Workhouse listed as paupers. Mary is listed as his sister under Alfred's name. There are other Workman's listed there too but they can be found with other family in 1841. Two are said to be idiots - Olive aged 22 & Maria aged 18 and then there is Joshua aged 36.

Hope this helps

Regards Joanne

Stephen Munday / Mundy in Ohio??

Does anyone have a Stephen MUNDAY or MUNDY in their tree? Would have been b. probably in Ohio, between 1820 - 1840 (most likely between 1825 - 1833). May have lived in Hamilton or Highland County.

I am seeking siblings of my 3g-grandfather, Gilbert MUNDAY, b. 1824 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father was an Irish immigrant, either James or Patrick MUNDAY, and d. between 1840 - 1850. His mother was Jane CUNNING / CUMMING(S), daughter of Irish immigrants Patrick and Jane CUNNING / CUMMING(S).

I know of 3 younger sisters, Eliza b. 1834, m. William Clay MONGER and moved to Indiana, Mary Ann b. 1839, m. Samuel Vance ROLL, and Sarah Jane b. 1841, m. Greenbury BODKIN / BOTKIN(S).

I strongly suspect there were other siblings in the 10 yrs between Gilbert (likely the eldest) and Eliza, and I have family notes suggesting there may have been a brother named Stephen, but have been unable to find anything conclusive.

I am interested in comparing notes with anyone having information about any MUNDAY / MUNDY in the southeast Ohio area in the mid-1800's or later.

Can you provide any more details on your Sims family at that time

I'm not aware of any of my Munday's being in Monroe County, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been a sibling or other relative who ended up there. If Eliza Jane was b. in Ireland in 1813, she was too old to have been my Gilbert's sister -- Gilbert was b. 1824 in Cincinnati, and appears to have been the eldest child in his family, but it's conceivable that Eliza Jane could have been related to Gilbert's father.

I know they lived in Monroe, Ohio in 1846 because their 2nd son Martin Sims Jr. was born there. I do not know her exact birth date other than 1813 and the date of her death is unknown.

I only have photos of the family graves of Andrew and sons, also his grandson I believe. They are buried about 60 miles from where I live. If you want those I will send them via E-mail if you can send me a private e-mail at fposch@cox.net.
The tombstones are in great condition, considering how old they are.

Thanks
Sylvia

Williams son Semieon Munday m: Jane Kimbrough, there son John A.Munday m: Delilah Jones, there son Robert Mundy m: Ophilia Yancey, there son Sylvester Mundy then me Sylvia Mundy. Most of my Mundays- Mundy came from Illinois to Arkansas then Oklahoma. It seems the name changed to Mundy about 1910 in the census, and just stayed that way. John Mundy was buried under the Mundy name instead of Munday.
Hope this helps some.
Hi Kathy

I am also a direct decendant. My grandmother was a Fernihough.
She married a cousin for a short time and they were divorced - then she married my Grandfather John Adams and they had fourteen children.

I think we must be related to half the state.

Judith
Cant help you there. I am aware there are some Firns in Canada and USA but they certainly do not link to my line at least since 1750. Firns is a very rare spelling variation of Fern, Fearn , Ferne etc. I have only ever found one line in Australia and the Nth American group spelt this way.
Happy hunting

Harry Firns
