Good Morning Everyone, I have been left some wonderful old letters with clues to my interesting Murray ancestors and came across the name Murat.

My Cecilia Murray was born in 1838, probably Roscommon, mentions Sligo. She had a brother Frank, maybe a James,
Her father? (poss. grandfather) was Michael Murray (Murat).

Michael changed name to Murat to teach at Sorbonne Univ. and fought with Napoleon. Her mother/grandmother or step may have been a Cecilia Treaux married Michael in France.

Cecilia's daughter, Catherine Murray McGarry m. McMorrow, became rich and was in the Irish Underground for 50 years.

I know that's not much but can any kind soul help a Boy Scout from CA who's been working hard on my Geneology. Now I'm hooked and must find out everything I can about my heritage, I want to know all about my Murray ~ Murat connection, mostly we came from Frenchpark, Roscommon.

Thank you for reading. Hope you all have a great Mother's Day,Timothy McGarry searching Coll, Murray,Murat, Carney, Beirnes, Sharkey, Egan, Noonan & of course McGarry
