James Murray, in my tree, is Cathlic. Yours being Presbyterian must come from Scotland. Have you tried the ship arrivals to Quebec city? Often his father would have the first name of a British King. My family were all British Kings and Queens up until the 1920s

My "brick wall" with my sister-in-law's Murrays is:
James Murray born Iberville Quebec c. 1817 who married Ellen Richardson in 1839 in Chalmers Presbyterian Church, Quebec City. Any help, as to James' parents, would be appreciated. Peter

Hi. I am searching the Murrays of Pembroke, ON, Canada and the surrounding counties. James Murray was born in Offaly county, Ireland but I have yet to get ahold of any records from Ireland. His father was Thomas Murray and his mother was Catherine Fox.

Todd, I'm glad that you wrote back. I found an article re. the three boys printed in 1880! I found something also about the boys finishing up their 9 years at the Farm and Trades School in Boston. In 1880 they were all attending the State Agricultural College at Orono, Maine. Their father enlisted in the war of Rebellion and died at New Orleans. I know that "my" Eliza Murray Longworthy and William E. Longworthy were living with Wilson's family in 1860, I just can't prove they are brother and sister, or cousins? young uncle? I'm still looking. I would love to see the photo no matter if we can prove it at this time. I have more info on the Murray family. Annette-thank you for your response. Almost forgot I had posted this. I haven't made any progress on the Maine Murrays and would love to know something. I know only that he was apparently born in Maine (probably between 1826 and 1836)and was in Boston in 1860. His wife (Elizabeth Carson of Maine)and he had the triplets. The later census' show the boys at at a work farm/school on an island near Boston (I don't have this info in front of me, but can provide along with the picture if you determine we're connected.)
I don't know about Wilson's parents or siblings. His wife and four sons later moved back to Maine and show up in a later census there. She is listed as a widow.

I hope we are connected and you can shed some light on this dead end. Thanks, Todd

If Wilson Murray and Eliza Murray Longworthy (misspelled Longwerthy in the 1860 Boston Census) are siblings like I suspect, we are related. I know a little bit about the Murray family if you would like to email me and I would love to see your family photo of Wilson, Elizabeth and the boys.

my murrays are a fog.mary a murray was my grandmother.she died in childbirth in 1905.her parents were timothy murray and ellen leary.i know when she died she had 2 sisters living in the boston area. she was married to james sullivan,born 1872. mary came here in 1900 at age 21.she had a cousin n. buckley at carney hospital.she arived here aboard the Ivernia

i am looking for the family of mary a. murray.came to boston in 1900,married james sullivan(from bantry cork)in brighton in june 1904. she died in childbirth in sept 1905 in natick. the ship roster has her living in cork but may be because she left from queenstown on the ivernia arrived boston 21 august 1900.her parents are listed as timothy murray and ellen leary.
i know she had 2 sisters living in the boston area when she died.that is the extent of my information.thank you for any help you can give me.

my grandmother was mary a. murray. she lived at 14 pearl st. natick mass.
her parents were timothy murray and ellen leary.
she had 2 sisters living in the boston area in 1905 the year she died.
she arived in boston from ireland,queenstown,aboard the ivernia 21 august 1900 she was 21.
the cousin she claimed was n. buckley,carney hospital boston.
her last residence is listed as cork i assume because she left from queenstown.
my grandfather was from bantry.
i hope we can make a connection because i can't find any irish records of the family.thank you

Daniel Murray born 1796 died July 1877 in Shanballyusky Irelan, he had children including Patrick Murray born 1836 in Roscommon Ireland. I am looking for any connection or knowledge of this family. I do not know who Daniel's wife or family was or where he was born etc?

Hello, my name is Lisa Brown and I think I can help on the unknown pics of a Bird family member.The unknown pic #6 of the young man is my great grandfather, Edcar Almarine Bird.I have been searchin forever to find any info.What I have been told was that he had a brother and they were orphaned at an early age.He was married to my great grandmother and she never really knew anything about him.I have pics of him as an adult.Do you have any info on him?

Darrell, Morton Harper Murray married to Luranah E. "Rainey" Magee 8 May 1892 in Ripley Co., MO. She was a dau of Jonathan Bee Magee and Parthenia Frances Payne.

I suspect the handwriting on that marriage record is hard to read.

Mark Murray (1849 - 1916) parents were James Riley Murray and Elizabeth Newman. One of their children was Abner Murray (1832 - 1910) buried at Fairdealing.

Abner and his wife Naoma Ann Smith had a total of 9 children some of which you will find in Southern Missouri, John Preston Murray (1854 - 1940) married to Elizabeth Jane Mace (1861 - 1938) both John And Elizabeth are buried at Fairdealing. Then Robert Ann Murray (1866 - 1946) married a George W. Stilley(1864 - 1907) both buried at Fairdealing.

Most of the names I know about, starting at the top of my list is Mark Murray (1849 - 1916) was married to a Lavina E. Kittinger (1852 - 1912) on 23 Jan 1871 in Saline county, Ill. Mark and Lavina had a total of 11 children four of which are buried here at Kinsey cemetery.

Emma Helen Murray (1874 - 1961)
Mark Thomas Murray (1882 - 1943) married to a Nellie Mae ?
James Ross Murray (1890 - 1960) married to Goldie Pearl ?(1892 - 1959)
Charley Bowen Murray (1895 - 1955) married to Tennie Hedipeth (1901 - 1972) on 06 Apr 1921 Poplar Bluff.

Morton Murray marriage record

I have a Morton Harper Murray that depending on what I look at he was either married to a Rainey MaGee or to a Susanah McGee both on the same date. The court record that shows on ancestry indicates a Susanah McGee on 8 May 1892 but his gravestone found at Oak Grove cemetery has a Rainey E. buried beside him.

Was Morton married twice or is Susanah and Rainey the same person?

DAVID MURRAY of United States Air Force 1949

Trying to find any info on Dave Murray born in Liverpool,U.K. around 1910 Mother Mary McGinley and Father David Murray. In March 1918 Mary married JOHN KELLY, they had a son EDWARD KELLY. 1918 but John died soon after..Mary went missing and the children were split up. Edward Kelly was raised by his grandparents but the Murray children were put in to a Childrens' Home. The little girl died in the Home, Dave Murray went to America and was adopted. He served in the United States Air Force and whilst stationed at Burton Wood in Warrington in 1949 he traced Edward Kelly
but later lost touch...Does any one know them?

Hello. I am new to this site and am looking into my family's history. My great-grandfathers name was Herbert Murray and he was married to Matilda Bridget Kelly. They had 7 children, one name Herbert. It is my understanding that part of our ancestry does go back to Canada. Is it possible the Herbert you reference is my great grandfather?

I'm a Murray descendant. My Murrays were from DE and MD and some did go to Ohio in the early/mid 1800s. Probably no connection but possible. Lots of John Murrays! No rush. I may not be able to get back to you for a while either.

My grandfathers grandmother (Elizabeth Murray/Eaton) married his grandfather (William Eaton) who was in Ireland as he looked after the officers (UK) horses (ostler/horseman) and I was wondering if anyone knew who she was or who her family were and where abouts in Ireland she came from as all the UK census' I've found have said that she is from a "deserted village" although one has said it is a village called Lissoy in Weat Meath.

I also know that her family owned or had something to do with a pub nearby called the 3 jolly pigeons or something along those lines and it is mentioned in Oliver Goldsmiths poem Deserted Village (I think that's what its called)

Anyway any help would be grealy received!!!

I just received a copy of the Notice of Heirship (filed July 28, 1890) for Patrick Murray (1809-1888), which lists the following children:

1st Child - Son: Michael Francis Murray (age 52 years in 1890)
2nd Child - Son: Hugh A. Murray (age 50 in 1890)
3rd Child - Dau: Mary Ann (born 1842 and died 18x4 - x is blank on the Notice)
4th Child - Son: Patrick J. Murray (age 44 in 1890)
5th Child - Son: Edward Murray (died in 1848 at 1 year old)
6th Child - Son: Henry T. Murray (age 41 in 1890)
7th Child - Son: William Thomas Murray (died in 1854 at 3 years old)

It also mentions both of Patrick's wives:
1st wife - Bridget - died in 1854 (7/9/1854 per my personal records)
2nd wife - Mary - died ten years ago (from 1890, i.e. @ 1880)

Son Patrick J. Murray is listed in his father Patrick's will as Patrick J. Murray of Jackson, Tenn. When this son went to TN, he went by Peter James Murray or P.J. Murray, perhaps to downplay his Irish and/or Catholic background. His 1903 will in Jackson TN mentions the estate of his father in Chicago, IL.

There was a P. Murray age 40 in the 1850 census (listed as shoemaker) who had children M, Hugh, and B (P?) as well as daughter Hannah (Anna?). Just bere him in the census list is a Hugh Murray age 60, which may have been his father.

Saw your reply on internet & was wondering if you might know about who the parents might be of a James H.orK. Murray b. ca. 1841 in area of Franklin Co.,Ky. he married a Margaret Castner in Hamilton Co.,Oh. & was living in 1880 census in Decatur Co.,In.
He supposedly had a sister Hester/Esther/Hettie b. ca. 1837-47 Ky. who married in 1854 in Decatur Co.,In. to Jonathan? David Ray.
On the 1880 census living with Hester in Monroe Co.,In. is living a Barnie Murray b. ca. 1864 a nephew, so I found out that his parents were the above James H.orK. & Margaret Murray, but can't seem to find out who James belongs to.
Any clues or ideas you can help with?

I have info on Ann Tracy Murray who was born in 1861 in Cushendahl. She was married to Patrick F. McNeil. They had 6 children and at least 3 of them were born in Somerville, Mass. THe last one James in 1903.

John Murray from Cullen Scotland

I have started researching my family who originated in Scotland. All I have is that my ggfather was John Murray - house painter who married Ann McGregor in Cullen on 29/12/1893. My grandfather was born in 1898. I have no idea if he had any siblings as he immigrated to South AFrica as a young man. I am the last in the family line and would love to trace my Scottish ancestors. I sometimes wonder if I am the ONLY PERSON in the world searching for my great grandparents John Murray B.1844 in Ohio and his wife Rosanna Gehrett B.1848 in Ohio. I need to know anything about them before they came from Ohio to Indiana, Wells Co. probably between the 1870"s and 1880'S. Gehrett may be spelled Garrett, Jaret, Jarret etc.

Thank you for answering so quickly. The problem is that I am not certain which John Murray that I have found is the right one. Give me a few days to go over my stacks of info and I will try to define the problem. John had 12 or 13 children and none of them that I know of kept a recoud of where their father came from in Ohio. To compicate matters he may have been raised by a brother and lived in his brother's home. I will get back with you in a few days.

Walter Scott Murray died May 27th 1918

I am researching the young men from our village of Eastham, Wirral, UK who died in WW1 and one of them was Walter Scott Murray. He was a pilot at the nearby Hooton Airfield, was killed in an accident on May 27th 1918 and is buried in the churchyard here. His father was James W Murray of Brooklawn, Gloucester, New Jersey.
Does anyone have any information about Clarence and his family that they would be willing to share with me?
He was serving with Training Depot no 4 and was posted to Hooton.
Any information would be appreciated and in particular any photographs of Walter.

My question now is are you sure he was buried at Fairdealing and not Kinsey.
Your Fairdealing and death cert. Abner, seems to have been buried at Kinsey.
His brother Mark is at Kinsey.Or could he have been moved, but, would have thought they would take the CW marker.

There was an Abner Murray who married Nancy J. Gier , Oct. 31, 1904. Not your Abner, but, could be kin.
The other Murray's buried in Kinsey are:
B., Charley, D.,Emma, Lavina, Lawrence, Lois, Mark, Pearl, Ross and Tennie. Might help connect your Abner.

Hello, I had a Grandfather named Johannes Murray as of late I have found his marriage record in County Westmeath His wife was named Elizabeth Eagen Murray.. I know nothing more about him only that he had a daughter Delia Murray.. I thought I would give you this information so that if either one of us ran across any furthur data we could exchange.There could be a connection.
