What a strange coincidence. My grand father is Joesph Murzyn, had brother and sisters named Frank and Mary, and from what I'm told Great Grand Father is named Frank. I have so many uncles named Frank and Joe as well as aunts all over the place named Mary, Marge (so many I don't even know them all), leave me to wonder, what's with the Murzyn (or maybe Polish people) fascination with the name Frank, Joe, Mary, Marge? But I don't think my Murzyn are the Murzyn you are looking for. They settled in NW Indiana, a small town south of Chicago call Whiting, Indiana. And I recall my dad mentioning something that we have some Croatian blood in the old country and even current relations as well.

I am researching my Murzin family. I have very little information. My grandfather was Aleck Murzin, died in 1972. His parents were William (Walienty) Murzin and Agnes Malecka. William died in 1948 in NY. Agnes some time before that. A couple of Aleck's siblings were supposedly born in Tacoma, WA. Not sure when they came to this Country. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe I know the family of whom you are requesting information. I graduated high school with a James Murzyn in Garden Grove, CA in 1976. His parents were Carl and Janet. He has a sister, Evelyn and a brother, Charles. I have since lost touch with Jim... but I think Charles is in or around Oklahoma City as a career Air Force man stationed at Tinker AFB. You might want to see what he knows if you can find him.

Hi Brian,
Would it be possible that Frank's Parents were Andrew and Marianna Murzyn? The two other Murzyn families (John Murzyn and mine, Stanley Murzyn ) in Port Richmond are related (brothers) with those same parents and come from the Ostroleka, Lomza Poland Area and then moved to Zalesie, Lomza Poland, both above Warsaw. There is also a sister out there who married a Stan Fidura. If you can contact the church, either Saint Adalbert or Saint Laurentius ( Cass is the one to ask for when contacting St. Laurentius. She has helped me alot.) They would be able to give you the information. Please let me know either way.
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

My Step-Grandfather (Frank Murzyn) parents names were Frank Murzyn and Sabina Konopka. It is quite possible that the names you gave are correct. Brian Murzyn would probably have more interest in this and know facts.

My interest & research is my real grandfather. Still no information on this - I think my best bet is the Betlejewski family.

It is interesting about your family on E. Ann Street however. You may have somebody in your family that knows the history about my father's parent or parents. My mother Jeanette (Carbone) Murzyn lived on E. Seltzer Street. She has recollection about your family name. I will ask her more tomorrow. She is 68 years old. Anyway - she has heard a story about a fire in the Port Richmond section of town that may have killed my father's parents and left my father an orphan. This will be interesting to research. Your family may know or heard of something like that - this would be crucial for me to find out.

Thanks for keeping in touch.

Gary
The information I have on the Murzyn's from Port Richmond is somewhat limited. My step-grandfather was Charles Murzyn who lived on Ann Street in Port Richmond with his wife Helen Murzyn (Betlejewski). My grandmother in 1933 gave birth to my father Edward Francis Murzyn.

Charles was one of three. He had a brother Joseph and a sister Mary. Their parents were Frank Murzyn and Sabina Murzyn (Konopka). I should also mention Charles was just a nickname. His real name is Frank.

I am most interested in finding information about my real grandfather still unknown. If this helps great - I have exact dates and other documents that may help your search is in fact were seaching on the same thread.

Gary

Agnes just passed away last year in Philly. She was never married. Do not know when although I would like to find the obit, If there is anyone out there that can help me find it. The unknown sister was married to a man by the last name of Lis or Liss. The husband passed away a long while ago, but She is still alive as far as I know. Anna passed possibly in the 1970's and was never married. The unknown brother I have no info on. Stanley Murzyn married Rosalie Kaczynski had 5 children- Catherine my great-grandmother who was born in 1903, Rose, Joseph, Bill (william) and Bud. He was a trashman who died on the job, probably between 1910/1920's, when a bag or pail of soot he was catching, with glass in it, cut a major artery and he bled to death on the way to the hospital. I cannot find any info on him though. Rosalie later married Julius Girzinski.

Catherine married Anthony Aleksandrowicz, who was born in 1900 in Poland, in Philly and had My grandmother Frances, Helen, and Walter.

Frances Married Louis Parcheta in Philly, and had my mother Eileen. All lived in Philly area. If anyone has any info on these Murzyn (Philly), Aleksandrowicz (from Philly and Baltimore, MD), or Parcheta names from Philly. I would be very greatful. I am trying to finish my family tree as a gift for my mother and am running out of ideas on how to get info.

I just found out (from the back of my grandmother's pictures, she loved taking notes) that my Great-grandmother Catherine Murzyn had 3 or 4 siblings. Rose, Joe, Bill and possibly Bud. My aunt got a little confusing so I don't know if this was another child or a nickname they called Bill. All from the Philly area

New info... Stanley Murzyn and Rosalie Kaczynski had 5 children- Catherine my grandmother, born 1903, Rose, Joseph, Bill (william) and Bud. He was a trashman who died on the job when a bag or pail of trash he was catching, with glass in it, cut a major artery and he bled to death on the way to the hospital. Rosalie later married Julius Girzinski.

I am looking for any information about Murzin family who lived in Kiev, Ukraine until approximately 1943. The story goes that they left the city with retreaing German troops. They lived on Gorky (Mala-Vasil'kovskaya at the time) street. We have never heard from them since then and do not know whether anybody of the family survived.
