Where did you get your Fauntleroy-Elrod information? I have read that Elizabeth Fauntleroy married Lawrence Muse in 1755 and then William Elrod in 1765. No documentation for this set of dates/relationships was provided.

I am a great granddaughter of George P Muse through my grandfather James Ludolphus Muse who moved from Bell Buckle TN to North Little Rock AR around 1905. James L married Ida Scruggs Muse around 1895 and already had 4 children by the time they left TN. My mother, Lucille Muse Anthony, was the 5th child and only one born in Arkansas.

I am curious about the Muse line through John Muse Sr and wonder if you are eligible for the DAR through this line? My DAR membership is through someone named James Muse Sr of North Carolina, but recent genealogy has thrown questions on some of those assumptions.

Thanks for posting.
Susan (Anthony) Wilson

Ron - I just joined rootsweb and I've been browsing this forum. My bother Kurt posted on this forum 23 May, 2003 asking about information on our Muse family line. He has recently declared me the new family historian because I love to do internet research and he doesn't have the time to dedicate to this any more.

All the information he sent me over the years is printed out and fits in a small folder. Kurt has his research on a PC program and I have a Mac - so we may have a problem there.

During the time he was the self appointed family historian Kurt determined that we are direct descendants of John Sr.

My father is Charles Cecil Muse - b. Nov.17, 1924 Chattanooga, TN

My grandfather was Charles Cannon Muse: born: Jan. 13, 1895 Wartrace, TN - died: 1940 Atlanta, GA

My great grandfather was Orville Whitfield Muse born: Nov.5, 1869, Bellbuckle, TN - died: Nov 10, 1928 Bedford Co., TN

This is the list that I have - I have dates etc. but I won't include them here I just want you to see how the line continues:

8 George Peery T.
7 Orville
6 Isaac
5 Richard
4 Thomas
3 John
2 Thomas Sr.
1 John Sr.

I would appreciate any help you can give me - this is a new endeavor for me and I'm not quite sure how to begin.

Best regards

Carol Muse Skinner

Lilly would have been my Grandmothers Aunt. I have a little bit of information but have only just recently begun the search. Thank you!
Mortuary records state his father's name is also Frank J. Lackner with "unknown" mother. This may not be correct. He and his family lived in Butte, MT, Ardmore, SD and Joplin, MO.
Nancy Sharp married a CC Muse in Scott CO Tennessee. CC Muse as it turns out is William "Micajah-Cager-Cage" Muse son of Galen Muse who is the son of James and Betsey "Chesney" Muse. He went by many names in his life but apparently used Cage most of the time. The name Christopher on the Death Certificate is incorrect which is not unusal. Information on death certificates is provided by family members or close friends. Etta Muse is the sister of Richard Muse.

Re: muse family connections

Eli and Ura were my grandmother's parents. My father, William Lloyd Brigman, and his brother, Robert Muse Brigman, remember them and may have stories. Eli and Ura lived in Wheeler, TX. where they are listed on the 1910 census as farmer, wife and 5 children; they are buried in Wheeler cemetary. I starting to put together a family tree and need more information about Ura's family, the Harpers. I have a poignant story about Ura that may interest you. My grandmother, August Roma Muse ("Romie" on the census) married Robert Brigman. She was widowed at a young age and, eventually, her two boys went to the Masonic Home and School in Ft. Worth where they played on the Mighty Mites football team under Russell. I am seeking information on Eli and Ura Muse family, Ura's Harper relations, W.R. Brigman, Cora Carriker Brigman, Robert Pinkney Brigman and all related.

Searching For Maurice Joseph "Jack" Muses

I am Blaine Fogle, and hope that you can help me with a great family mystery. My mothers Father, Maurice Joseph "Jack" Muses, son of Joseph and Mary Muses of Italy, born here (USA)in New York, about 1895, June or July birth month(?) has gone missing since 1937 or so mostly. Married Lucielle Duckett, my Grandmother, in a Mexican wedding, about 1932. Jack shows in the 1930 Census in Chicago with a wife, Zada (might should have been Zaida, uncertain), she was a teacher. I lose Zada before that and after as I have no maiden name, and GPa may have been a bigamist. He met Lucille Duckett in Chicago about August 1931, and according to the pictures, letters and memorabilia, she was just about as hot as the weather, a party girl and always ready for a "swell time"! The Duckett family had $, and property in Texas at Dallas, Ft Worth as well as Chicago. Maurice Joseph Muses always went by "Jack" and operated the Pregande Institute, some kind of teaching company, perhaps mail order as some of his letters discuss enrollments he had taken. He got into some kind of legal trouble at some point (about 1938?)and may have served time for checks, or some kind of financial mis-management with Pergande Institute, (Pergande may have been Zada's maiden name?) and was reported passing from undisclosed causes in about 1946, possibly in Texas. His brother Robert Joseph Muses married Nettie Cappeggio in New York City and shows living with her at her mothers home (1920 Census). I also find a draft card for both boys where Maurice shows a wife and child (nameless) and a different birth year, perhaps to lessen his chances of going to war. A sister, Sadie, also Sarah, (b1887, Italy) marries Walter Roach (bApr,1884 F-John Roach, b1859, M-Margaret, Immigrating 1882 from Ireland) about 1908, lots of kids! Sure would like to find decendents of Walter and Sarah Roach, Robert Joseph Muses and Nettie, or even children of Roberts second wife, Margaret Mangan, widow to John C Mangan b1878, Mass. 1930 Census shows Robert Joseph Muses married to Margaret, living with her and her son John & wife Margaret, James 19yrs, Teresa 17yrs, Rita 15yrs(Mary from 1920 Census?)
Her children: John b1908?, Margaret b1910?, James b1912?, Teresa b1914?, Mary(Rita)b1915?
Whatever happened to Maurice Joseph "Jack" Muses? Very well educated and conversant in several languages, Stamp collector, refregeration engineer, Salesman, bigamist?, inmate? What became of the Pergande Institute, some connection to todays civil service exam? Who was Zada, where did she go? Whatever happened must have been tough, for Lucille Muses (Duckett), later Mrs Anthony Vincent Schmalhofer of Los Angles, never would discuss it, never told her daughter, Aline Lucille Muses (my mother, b1934, California) anything about her father and neither would anyone else in the family say much. All we ever found out were address's and some stories about how well educated and big hearted Jack was to everyone. Apparently, an affair between Jack and a woman, perhaps an employee, co-worker was the problem. Mom is 74 now and would like to have some answers as I would. Jack, where are you? What became of Nettie Muses, Robert J Muses' 1st wife, & did they have children? Where is Jack buried? Did Maurice Joseph "Jack" Muses remarry? There was a Muses in Dallas about 1952 that may be connected, a Mary Muses, (wife, mother?)according to the phone book then. No one would answer the door at that time. Mom has no memory of ever meeting Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents etc on her fathers side, which is strange in itself. Thanks for reading this wild tale and feel free to reply to blai64@aol.com with Jack in the subject line! Wondering how all this works, I now see that I should study the guide lines here, so if I have blundered here please excuse, I'll work on it, but too slow a typer to lose all this and do over!
Thanks, and God Bless!
Blaine

Muse is my name. Christina Muse. I was born in Dayton Ohio (76), father David Muse. My dad was and mother divorced when I was 2 years old. My dad started researching the family name. I wasn't very connected with the family at that time due to step father's issues. My dad (53) was passed away (David Muse). I know he has family in the East Coast states, but I'm not sure who they are. I am wanting to connect with the family I do have left. My 8 year old daughter is also wanting to do a family tree. This would help if anyone has information. thank you so much for your time.

Hello, my name is Christina Muse. My father David Muse, 54 of Ohio just passed away and I began asking questions of the "muse" family. In getting very little information, I have since found out that I have numerous family members in the KY area. I have been very successful with any findings of the "muse" family, except my grandfather's name was Billy Gene Muse, possibly married to: Flossie Whitt, Rose Hinton and Mary Buckler. I know my grandfather passed away in 1988 or 1989.

If anyone could please help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Christina,
My name is Larry Muse, and I live in Coastal NC. I have recently started researching my heritage as well.

One thing that I have found out is that my Grandfather(Muse) was one of ten children. If you have your father's Grandparents name, I might be able to share some of my information with you.

Larry

Antique Muse Family Bible from 1800's

Hello Friends I recently purchased a beautiful family Bible at an auction and when I received it it was filled with "Muse Family" information it appears that the first family to own this beautiful Bible were a Mr. J.H. Muse born in Henry County Tenn. he married Josie Williams of Weekly Co. Tenn. they were married 18 Feb 1876 in Henry County Tenn.
witnessed by Mr. Dumas and Sarah Freeman
Other listings in this Bible are:
BIRTHS:
J.H. Muse, 26 Dec 1844 in Henry County Tenn.
Hayes G. Muse, 1 Mar 1877 in Weekly County Tenn.
Ernest H. Muse, 27 Oct.1880 in Henry County Tenn.
Marie Muse, 22 Aug 1890 in Pulaski County Ill.
Clarence Muse, 22 Oct. 1892 in Jackson County Ill.
Mildred Muse 8 May 1906
Ernest Livingston Muse 8 Sept. 1911
Maxine Violet Muse 31 Jan 1913

DEATHS:
J.H. Muse 13 July 1902 in Carbondale Ill.
Ernest Livingston Muse 22 Feb 1913
Elinor Marie Muse 18 July 1909
Alice Muse 27 Nov 1921
Mildred Muse 26 Mar 1922

MARRIAGES:
J. H. Muse to Josie Williams 1876
H.G. Muse to Clara Butler 1902 in Carbondale Ill.
E.H. Muse to Alice Taylor 23 July 1904

I also found 2 photo's in the Bible:
1) 3 children sitting on a tree that is leaning
2)Middle aged woman very tiny picture but is very clear

It would appear that the Muse family is of African American Heritage and from a piece of paper found in the Bible they may have been Catholic the address of the church is Chicago Ill. it is a Program re: Special Membership Meeting for the Catholic Interracial Council The meeting was scheduled for 26 July 1965. I hope this will help someone with their family research. I have pictures of the Bible and the photo's if anyone is interested. God Bless
