Katherines parents were Dillmam(Tilman)and her mother:Elizabeth Willie.Married-1875.Tilmans parents were Moses Musselman and Catherine Martain(married October25,1851)Moses father was Frederick Musselman.
Timan and his wife had two daughters,Katherine who married William Steffler and Emma who married Austin Gauntley both daughters moved to Alberta and raised their familys.

Seeking information on a Peter Musselman who is on the 1800 Federal Census for York Co., PA. There is also a Peter Musselman on the 1800 Federal Census for Washington County, MD. Does anyone know any of the descendants of either of these two men? I think possibly one may be father of my-3rd g.grandmother, Susannah Musselman who maried Jacob Barkdoll in Hagerstown, Md, in April 1800. I would welcome any responses. Nancy

Sarah Musselman (Mussleman) and James P. Shaw

I am looking for the family of James P. Shaw. He married twice. 1st marriage: James P. Shaw married Sarah Mussleman Dec. 20, 1873 in Jefferson County, Nebraska. She was listed as Sarah Mussleman and her father was listed as Lewis Musselman (mother Delilah Venious). She was born abt. 1854 in Indiana and he was born in 1827 in New Jersey the son of Joshua and Hannah Pough Shaw. I think Sarah Mussleman Shaw may have died young, just a few years after her marriage. I don't know if they had children. 2nd marriage: Joshua P. Shaw married Sarah E. Haggard (daughter of James Haggard) Feb. 4, 1880 in Jefferson County, Nebraska. Sarah Haggard was born in 1841 in Illinois. There were no children from this marriage.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

D. 26 May 1846 Bradford, PA, Susanna, Lydia, Gideon, Israel, Hirman, Joel. Esther M. John Wallace had four children.
Sarah, M. Emaual Anglemire, Had eight children had 2nd marriage with one child.
Elias M.1. Catherine Hilliard, M.2. Priscilla Lebenguth Andres, Hadeight children. Julia Anna M. Levi Julian Wing no Children Julia was also mariied a William White and had two children Elias and Helen [Ellen} Jane (have also seen Middle Intial as M.) White, Helen was my Great Grandmother.

I don't know how you found this but my hat is off to you. I am real curious about the children you mention? I know of the three boys but not the 7 children can you expound on this????? My grandfather was Americus, his brother William and John, have all three bith certificates grandfather later changed his name to Major, why unknown. Can you help me with great grandmother ANNA, or is her name Julia Anna Musselman? Where can I find this information?

I found Maggie Musselman married to William H. Trussell (Tussell) in the Ohio Marriages database. Married on Nov. 11, 1878 in Paulding Co., Ohio.
Maybe the same family later in Union, Isabella Co., Michigan in 1900 - William born Dec. 1853 in England, coming to USA in 1854. Was a farmer in Michigan. Wife: Anna M. Trussell - born Sept. 1859 in Ohio. Stated her parents were born in PA. Three sons in household in 1900: John L., William F., Americus Trussell. Had 7 children born with 4 alive in 1900.
In 1910 living in Isabella Co., MI just William and Margaret Trussell. Only 3 children alive as of 1910. Margaret stated her father was born in Maryland and mother in PA.
William a surveyor for the county.
1930 - In Isabella Co., MI - Anna M. Trussell - age 70 living with son, Major R. Trussell and his family. She was a widow. Major R. was a farmer.

First I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth all my outstanding debts-and two sows also household furniture and beds as many as she chooses and thinks necessary to have during her widowhood the above she shall have as her own property while she remains my widow. And further it is my will what my son Christian has received in horses and geese this he shall have as a compensation because he worked for me after his age. Further I give to my son John likewise a young brown mare also a weavering (sic) Loom and [Tackling] as a compensation. Barbara Musselman and William Orton

They would be my gggrandparents. their son John Orton was born in either ONtario, Canada, or Michigan. In one report that I have it states that Barbara was from PA. But who knows. Jesse's age varies from one census to the other. On April 24, 1886, "Ann E.", widow of Jesse Musselman, applied for pension, application 338.258,certificate 362.288 from Ohio. Jesse Musselman served in Co. H in the 113th Ohio Infantry.

Did you send away for the pension records? Might have an answer or two in those.

Buried beside Joseph Musselman, Jesse's supposed father, is "Jesse Musselman" born Sep. 8, 1829, died May 4, 1884, aged 54y, Civil War Veteran.

Jesse Musselman's approximate year of birth varies from census to census. I believe he's the Jesse Musselman born 07 May 1826 in OH, and baptized 02 Jul 1826, the son of Joseph and Catharine (EVERT) MUSSELMAN. This particular Jesse is probably the one buried in Lithopolis Cemetery in Lithopolis, Ohio.

Rather than me typing or cut'n paste everything again (census extractions, text extractions, etc.,) just go to my website and search for Jesse Musselman in the online searchable database. Look his data over. I show 'my' Jesse was married to the same person you do, but again, the ages vary so much from census to census. Perhaps there was two Jesse's born about the same year.

Jesse and Ann Elizabeth were my great-great grandparents(her headstone is inscribed with just the name Elizabeth 1833 - 1910). My great-grandmother was one of their nine children, Martha A. (Musselman) Browning. Many of the nine children and Elizabeth's parents (Millar) are buried near each other in the same cemetery in Ohio. Are you related to the Musselmans?

Hi! That is really neat. My great-grandmother was Martha (Musselman) Browning. I have a good bit of family info if you are interested. I do know where Calvin & Mary Elizabeth are buried (which is where many of the Musselmans & Millars are buried in Ohio). My grandmother is also buried there. This family is a problem as Susannah is supposed to be the daugher of Peter DeHaven and Elizabeth Knight. Some dispute that Peter had any children by Elizabeth. Peterman's daughter Susannah b. 27 March 1789 in Trappe Montg. PA marreid Jacob Zering 25 Dec 1810. Hi!

Sorry to be so tardy in replying -- I just finished up my holiday travel. From what I can put together, I think you have the right Jesse with the right census info -- this is the area where the family lived and I can only guess that whoever was reporting Jesse's age to the various census takers just took wild guesses at it (plus the variations inherent as to exactly when the census was taken). I don't have the Civil War pension file, but I think you are right that that should be the next step. I haven't requested one in so long that I'll need to go back and review how to do it! If I find out anything that solves some of the Musselman mysteries, I'll try to post it here.

Yup.... I'm trying to find something more definitive that I can hold on to here. There are just WAY to many Musselman's all wandering around the same areas to make too many assumptions. And I keep coming up with contradictory evidence. Some day when I move back from Mexico I would LOVE to go digging in Ohio records and see what I can find... If I ever find any new documentation or great info. I'll be sure to pass it on.

Seek information about Sarah Musselman/Mussleman, born about 1833, died 1879 in Harrison County, Indiana. Married Levi Melton May, 1850, who was a Union soldier in Civil War. Had many children, some of whom migrated to Missouri. Family lore says she had a Native American mother (unknown tribe) and white father. Mother died when she was an infant. Grandmother supposedly had her adopted (probably informally) by Musselman/Mussleman family. Especially interested in info about birth and "adopted" parents.

I am searching for the parents of Mary Etta Musselman. She was born April 20, 1858 in Selinsgrove, Snyder County, Pennsylvania and died June 28, 1899 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
William Henry Wolfgang was born April, 21, 1858 in Ashland, Schuylkill County, PA and died Oct 25, 1912 in West Nanticoke, Luzerne, Pa. They had 4 children: John Lewis, Westor Lamar, Minnie May and Hazel Etta.
I know there are lots of Musselman families in Pa, but I just can't seem to link her with anyone. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
