Do you have any information abut a Millard and Stella Mcclure? I have not done any research on them but I assume there was some connection to the Musselwhites. Their picture shows up in a group photo I just received and Millard was a witness at my parents wedding in the 1920s.

I just saw this post, I see it's from a few years ago, but just in case you see it again, Leonard was my grandmother's brother (Zula M. Musselwhite-Faircloth). I grew up listening to stories about "uncle Leonard" , my father thought the world of him.

I have some pictures of Uncle Leonard as well as Sarah and Ashley Musselwhite. If you, or any other family members are interested I would be happy to send copies.

I don't know much about James White. I too would like to know where he died and what happened after his brief relationship with his second wife. James was my husband's great grandfather. As far as how I made a connection between your mother and my husband's family, I have a copy of an obituary that mentions your mother as sister to Louisa White (my husband's grandmother)in addition to other siblings. One of his sons, Jesse, had a son, Jesse Jr, had a son, Charles Musslewhite, had a son, James T M White, married Louisa Hurt, had a son James T 1874, married Callie Barfield.
James T Musslewhite, who was married to Louisa Hurt, was in Civil War. James T junior, who was married to Callie Barfield was born AFTER the Civil War. This should straighten out some confusion. I cannot find a source for Tillet being the T...
I have seen T for Thomas, however. I believe the 1880 census or the 1900 census has James T. and James T Jr living next door in Robeson County, NC. The Hurts were from Montgomery County, NC.

Thanks for the reply. I think we're on the right track. Here's some information I have on Louisa White:

Born April 30, 1921 in Johnsonville, SC, died December 31, 1943 in Florence, SC, delivering twin daughters who also died. In her obituary it states, besides brothers and sisters from her mom's first marriage, some brothers and sisters from father's second marriage such as Ruth Pendergrass, Flora King, Melvin White, Newton White. I found these names in the 1910 Census for Robeson, NC and made the connection that way. That's how I finally found out who possibly was Louisa's father. Her obituary did not list his name.

I will be requesting a copy of Louisa's death certificate, also her mom's. Hopefully that will provide additional clues.

Hmm, I'm not sure who James Edward White is. I don't think he's from the same mother as Louisa. I see that James T. White Jr. died in GA. Any idea where and when?

My gr gr grandfather went to Burma/India and had a family there.

James Tillet was son of James Thomas, but I don't know why there was a JR. on his name in some records. There was another James Thomas who had a son (JR.) Some of the names you mentioned in the obituary matches James Tillet's children. send me your address in my email Joannwil@aol.com

James Tillet Musselwhite(son of James Thomas & Louisa A Hunt) had a daughter, Louisa c1922.
he had to have remarried since his first wife Callie Frances Barfield died 5/27/1920.
he also had a son,James Edward born 10/25/1921
Does this sound like it might be your line?
I have no record of a Belle Ard; just a Julius Curtis Ard who married a Foxworth

Musselwhites in Woolwich, Kent, England

I am trying to find out about Caroline Musselwhite who married William Vaughan in the Church of Saint Luke, Old Charlton, Kent in 1835.

According to later censuses she was born in Woolwich, Kent, around 1815-1816 but I have found no baptism entry as yet.

Also there are no Musselwhites in the 1841 or 1851 censuses or on free BMD for the area.

The only other clue is that a Mary Ann Musselwhite was a witness at Caroline's 1835 marriage so she must have been a relative.

If anyone has any info I would be grateful to hear anything.

I am a descendant of the Musselwhite family who settled in Robeson County North Carolina USA in the late 1740s. The Musselwhite first came to Massachusetts in 1635. First found in Surry County, Virginia in 1697, then they migrated southwest into North Carolina.
