I am also researching the Mussetters and Boyers in Fred. Co. Md. I can be reached at caldelite@comcast.net if you are interested in finding us living people also. It seems to make it more fun if you have someone to share findings with.

Re: Charlotte Mussetter, Maryland, Berkely Co. VA

I don't have Charlotte nor any Mussetters living near Hagerstown at that time. All the Mussetters I have are from the Ijamsville/New Market area of Frederick County, MD. I do have a contemporary of Charlotte, John Mussetter, b. 9 Jun 1769 in Frederick Co., MD; d. 27 Sep 1847 in Chester TWP, Greene Co., OH; son of Christian & Mary Mussetter. John & family lived near Martinsburg in Berkeley Co. from abt. 1802 - 1836. Maybe there's a connection.

I haven't found any mention of Charlotte in Mussetter wills or deeds in Frederick Co. If Charlotte was a sibling, she would have had two brothers, but both married, John in 1801, and his brother Christian, in 1799. They had two sisters, both appear to be unmarried. Could you post more info on Charlotte & William?
--John Freed

Am looking for any information on a Charlotte Mussetter who married William Runer and lived in Berkeley Co., Virginia. Family history states Charlotte had two batchelor brothers and an unmarried sister who lived in Maryland near Hagerstown. I do not have Charlotte's birth date, but the first child of Charlotte and William was born abt. 1791.

Have utilized "Musseter and Related Families, Lois Redmond Hodge, 1976" and extended the chart with greater detail regarding the descendants of Lillburn W. Mussetter (1823 - 1863), who was killed near Fairmont, MO by bushwackers (who were later caught and executed). Willing to share. My interest is with the Vandruff line, which connects with the marriage of Lillburn W Mussetter Jr. to Lillian Ann Vandruff on 2/7/1888 at Williamstown, Lewis County, MO.

My great grandmother Emma Boyer (Mrs. Wm. E. Hyatt), born in Kemptown was the daughter of John Boyer and Elizabeth Brandenburg. John Boyer was the son of John Boyer and Elizabeth Day. John Boyer was the son of Peter Boyer and Anna Maria Mussetter.

I'm interested in finding parents of Anna Maria Mussetter. Thirty-odd years ago there was a woman from Virginia who had researched the Mussetters but I don't remember her name now.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gerald,
Nice to hear from you. I do not have Elizabeth Anne or her brother Willis in my database, but I do have your ggg grandfather as:

Lilburn William Mussetter, b. 26 Dec 1823 in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV; d. 10 May 1863; m. 24 Dec 1846 in Clinton Co., OH, Sarah Ann Huffman. On 15 Oct 1853, Lilburn was granted a patent for 40 acres in Lewis Co., MO. (You can see that info online at the website of The Bureau Of Land Management - General Land Office Records: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/default.asp). Acording to WFT Vol. 22, Tree 1501, Lilburn served Missouri as a Private in the Civil War; Enrolled Missouri Militia, Co. K, 69th Regt., and died in action. I have not verified the civil war service info myself, but the death date I have for him would be consistent.

Lilburn was the son of John Mussetter Anna Williams. John was b. in Frederick Co., MD. He m. Anna 17 Jan 1801 in Frederick Co., MD; abt. 1802 they moved to Berkeley Co., WV; then on to Lumberton, Clinton, Co., OH. I descend from John's sister, Barbara, who remained in Frederick Co.

I'd would be happy to share more info if you are interested.

John

Hi John,
Looks kind of lonely here. Guess there's not many Mussetters out there.

My gg grandmother was a Mussetter who lived in the northeastern part of Missouri, around LaBelle, Kirksville, etc. I don't know how they might connect, but some names to ponder are; Lillburn W. Mussetter (born circa 1824)who had at least two children by the names of Elizabeth Anne (married James Wesley Walker) and Willis who lived in Thalia, TX.

I am a descendant of Elizabeth.

Does any of this ring a bell with you?

Gerald
