My great-grandfather, John Albert Greager Sr. was married to Liberty Florence Mutchler b. 1861, daughter of Jacob Mutchler and Eva Weeks of Shamokin. Trying to make some connections.

Does anyone know more about Morris MUTCHLER?

For a friend, I'm trying to track down the family of Charles JOHNS, born circa 1859 in South Wales, raised in Dauphin and Northumberland counties, PA. He died in 1901 leaving kids and a widow named Agnes.

In the 1910 and 1920 censuses, Agnes (b. 1859) is shown as the wife of Morris. Some of Agnes & Charles JOHNS's kids are listed as well. They're who I'm looking for.

Unless I'm mixing up my Agneses, her maiden name was RENNEY. She married Charles JOHNS about 1889 ... but may have been married previously (handwritten record is hard to read; maybe to a WETZEL?). Looks like she had at least one child with her first husband.
In 22 May, 1901, Matilda was living in Grand Rapids, Kent, MI, later moved to Palmer, Lake County, IN where William Phillips and George Williams were "near" neighbors to her. In a deposition she stated that Jacob lived in Beech's Corners, Porter County, IN from 1859-1864 when he joined the army, then he returned there after his discharge and lived there until 1868. They next moved to South Bend, St. Joseph County, IN from 1868-1871, then moved to near Dayton, Berrien County, MI from 1871-1883 then on to Three Oaks.
Jacob Mutchler carried the mail from Three Oaks, Berrien County, MI to LaPorte, IN. He worked as a head sawyer in a mill, and was a farmer, Livery.
Jacob was admitted to the Michigan Soldier's Home 17 August 1894.
names included in the file: Frederick L. I am writing a history of the Nauman family of Monroe County, PA. My only information about Keith is that he was a son
of George Mutchler and Gertrude (Surname Unknown), was born November 1, 1914, died November 22, 1990, had siblings, Frederick, Vera and Donald, and appears in the 1930 Census of Ward 3, SALAMANCA, CATTARAUGUS COUNTY, NY. The only documentation that I have for Keith is the 1930 Census and his Social Security death report.

I would be pleased to have all the information about Keith Mutchler that you have.

Thank you.

Bob Nauman
Dr. Robert V.
Lemuel Mutchler m. Sarah Anne Carpenter m.1846 in Warren County, New Jersey. Rootsweb indicates Lemuel b. ~1825 in Harmony, Warren County, NJ. LDS shows Lemuel was born to John G. Mutchler and Mary Metz. My husband's great great grandfather was Lemuel. His grandfather was Tracy W. Mutchler b. 1873, Othello, Minnesota. Newspaper clippings from other family member include names listed as Tracy's brothers to be William L. and Charles (Austin) b. 1863. Arthur is another name in an included newpaper clipping. Don't know the connection. Trying to connect Tracy to Lemuel. Clippings include Lemuel and Sarah as parents to Charles (Austin). Any help would be appreciated.

The first time that I see them in the Washington D.C. Directories is in 1888, Isaiah B. Mutchler appears alone. He would be my GGGGrandfather. His wife was Nancy A. James. They seemed to have stayed in the D.C. area their deaths. Issiah D: Bet. 1894-1895. Nancy sometime after 1913. Two of their 3 children were born in Oklahoma Indian territory. I have also heard rumor that is where Nancy was born. Any help would be great. I've seemed to hit a wall on where Isaiah B. Mutchler originated from.

Wendy

Re: MUTCHLER FAMILY HISTORY

After reviewing all 315 hits for Mutchler on this site, I noticed that any close proximity to to the line of my grandfather, John C. Mutchler, is absent. With that in mind, I though I would add my 2 cents worth and possibly give you Mutchler geneology addicts some clues to help in your searches.

Please keep this in mind, my grandfather passed away 30 years ago, and what I'm posting is mostly from memory of what he told me. Some of it is quite hazy. I'll work to sure up my facts in the comming weeks.

John C. Mutchler was born in Falls City (Karnes County) TX around the turn of the century. He was the son Leopold (I'm pretty sure that was his name) Mutchler who is buried in Cestahowa, Karnes County, TX. John married Joanna Anna Schaefer (Annie) from near by Hobson TX in the early 1920's.

If memory serves, this Mutchler line immigrated from Germany in the early 1840's, when Texas was still an independent country. What I'm more sure of (but not 100%) is that they settled in the New Braunsfels, (Comal County), / Fredricksburg (Kendall County) TX area.

One other tidbit -- John and Annie used to travel to Buffalo, NY, every couple of years to visit relatives, but I don't know if these relatives were Mutchlers or Schaefers.

Fortunately, my mother is still alive and I hope to have more solid info and hopefully more names in the near future. If any of this has caught you interest and you'ld like me to ask her more specific questions, just e-mail me:

mykzyk@yahoo.com

Hope this can help someone!
